I’ve added a couple of links to the first post in this thread, one for the London Battle of Britain Monument website, and one for anyone who would like to sponsor an airman’s name on the monument, it only costs £10, & there are still 1308 names as yet not sponsored.

That bottle of Spitfire resides in a place of honor on my bar, as Andy will be able to attest after he visits next month.

Geez, the lengths some people will go to get a ride in a Sea Fury 😀

Just the one bottle of ‘Spitfire’ Steve, here in Kent we’ve got the brewery that makes it, and they do tours of the brewery too.

Sea Fury ‘Southern Comfort’ 🙂 Only joking Steve 😀 😀

Until it’s loss 🙁 I would have said the CAF ‘He111’, so perhaps the B-29 instead, & paint it as a Washington.

    Snakeman,

Yes, the Avenger in your photo is the same one as in mine, now owned by Oscar Duck as VH-TBM. As can be seen, it was repainted as George Bush’s Avenger.

I sent them eight photos in all, including one of all four sitting at the table, why they chose the one of Steve I don’t know.

I’m sure I’ve read, some time back, that the B-17 did carry a Talboy/Grand Slam externally. Someone out there must have a good B-17 book with details of the heaviest bomb carried by a B-17.

Didn’t he do an airshow ‘act with a Ju52? It had a gunner in an open position on the top of the fuselage who blazed away at an attacking fighter. I remember it at an early ‘Fighter Meet’
