Ah… such memories…
And he never pulled the cord….!:D
I’ll remember Ced Hughes stating that “… as you drift down enjoying the Cambridgeshire countryside you’ll hear music drifting up as I’m there to grret you with a brass band to celebrate the first cadet to jump in ‘x‘ years…”
One of my favourites was/is the Bucc..
During Gulf War One the best by far… all those gorgeous curves!
edited for spelling!
I’d guess Popham…
I’ve no idea what they reckon a movement is… but damn restrictive either way.
It’s going to be fun I think! we had 112 last year and 96 the year before!!!
Just hope David’s appeal works… Perhaps there will be some creative accounting??;)
I recall seeing a TV programme years ago about Edward Hulton and all those involved in their struggle to keep her in the air and all the frustrations involved in that…
I saw her flying over the IoW once… Fantastic

As far as I’m aware two Fox Moths still fly G-ACEJ and G-AOJH.
‘OJH is a Canadian built machine and has a canopy fitted for pilot comfort…
Also under restoration is G-ACCB.
I think it was G-ACEJ that was severly damaged at Old Warden although the exact details I don’t know.
As for the Dragon, in the UK there is G-ECAN (immaculate at Woburn last year – as was ‘OJH)
Iolar (EI-ABI of Aer Lingus) was flown regularly up until about a year ago.
I have to brag here that I have flown in Iolar (a delightful circuit at Waterford in ’98) 😀 😎
Sure there are others of both types flying in the Southern Hemisphere…
Lets see what else gets posted here today…:)

Wow!
I know you said the image was clear but…!?!?
S5 Replica
Guzzineil
The S5 replica crashed fatally on 23rd May 1987 near Mylor, Cornwall. The offical report stated the tail detatched due to flutter during its first flight in seven months…
Very sad

Duxford
DazDaMan
I seem to recall a picture of the ‘vark touching down with sparks from the deployed hook ready to catch a wire.
Damn how I miss UH…

Another open air collection that is rapidly looking more than just a little tragic and a poor advert for the preservation scene as a whole is the collection at Long Marston. 🙁
I’ve been over a couple of times whilst in the area at the weekends etc during published opening times and there has been no-one around and no visible change (other than continued deterioration) in the exhibits. 😡 So it’s not as if I can help by parting with some cash for them.
I appreciate that three of teh airframes are owned by the land owner but the rest…. And didn’t I read somewhere that the Meteor there is one of just two ex Navy two seaters?
