Excuse my apparent ignorance (and my bad language),but just WHAT is the f*cking point of spending all that dough on getting the aircraft dismantled and transported if it is only going to rot away in it’s new home???
I agree with Philo’s conclusion about it probably being for short term financial gain and it makes me f*cking livid!:mad: Personally i’d rather see her chopped up tomorrow than carted off and reassembled and left to rot over the next two or three years.Save us the torture and just cut it up…

Thinking about it,I’m surprised how many aircraft I saw on a daily basis in my childhood and early teens that I would now consider special and even historic.I live between the approaches for 27L and 27R about 4 miles east of LHR,so I must’ve seen a huge number of airliners go over my head in my lifetime.The one that sticks most vividly in my mind is the Bristol Freighter which used to operate out of Heathrow for a while in the mid-90’s (I was only 14 ish,does that count as ‘rug-rat’ age??)-I rememebr one fine evening it flew over misfiring very badly,it made such a racket that some of the neighbours came rushing out expecting to see it crash (which it duly did at Enstone just a few weeks later :().
Other lesser types I remember fondly are things like the DC8’s,B707’s and Dart-engined Fokker F.27’s (the F.50’s just aren’t the same).
One type I don’t remember but which I must’ve seen plenty of,is the HS Trident-it’s something I would love to see flying now (but never will).

It’s a place ‘ooop North’ on the coast-mmmmm lots of lovely salty air to rot a Beverley with…:mad: 😡 😡
Why on earth go to such trouble to purchase an aircraft if you’re just going to put it somewhere where it will disintergrate before your eyes???

For what it’s worth,I’d like to see the Comet,Argosy and Brittannia go into the space in Hangar 1. The Comet because it’s the very last Comet 1 in existence, the Argosy because I can’t imagine any of the other preserved examples getting a roof over their heads anytime soon (if ever) and the Brittannia because there are only three complete examples left and none of the others have a garaunteed future (yet-hopefully one may one day go on indoor display at Filton).
