Ok, its a naff as a naff thing from the planet Naff, but F-14’s….. a pure 80’s soundtrack…… “you just have to get it up as high as you can go !”

I had this on, a cold beer and a weeks ironing from the kids….. I was happy…..

I like a lot of “WIF” ideas, Ben and I drolled over the Israeli TSR-2 as well as the Gulf war versions, but this one, ummm – a P-40 with its ground looping behaviour with added weight up front onto a carrier, a smaller RN carrier at that ? It doesn’t set my imagination alight at all.

Ummm – thats “original” – that said I quite like Cosford so I’m willing to go on a little faith and see how it pans out, 21st century and all that…..

Seems you had a good day Pagen01 ! – The Midland Aircraft Museum is a wonderful place to spend a day. I’ve posted here before about it, one of the staff wondered around looking for my son and me to take us up onto the Vulcan cockpit as we waited a while but moved on. They opened up the F-104 for us as well as the “Hind” that was on loan from BAe – they used it as a prototype to sell upgrades but there were (IIRC) no takers. The F4C is in poor condition but I think it was sawn into pieces for transport, there were a few bits of other types on the dump at the back as well.

I can recommend it to anybody, there is a great little book shop/gift shop area as well.

I have the same thoughts Wyvernfan, what is it now, 20 years of work? At least I’d hope to see a test flight before she goes (USA or Australia I’d imagine) but I didn’t think the issue with the engines/props had been resolved? I’ll happily be corrected on that though.

Not quite oblique but the Gloster F9/37 Reaper carried 5 20mm cannon, 2 below, 3 above the cockpit at about a 25 degree angle.

and I hear no outcry from Amnesty International etc !

Was it a myth, that when the hostages were taken in Beruit, that as well as the British, American and French hostages, one or more Russians were taken as well? The French did a deal and got their man back, the US hostage ended up in Iran and killed IIRC, and the British/Irish story is well known.

The Russians I recall reading, took their own hostage from the local Hezbollah and offered to send him back in pieces unless they got their man back? It may be nonsense, but follows the same logic as the pirate “Incident”.

Despite being “unaffected” in recent changes, seems I’ll have a new boss and the “mapping” indicates a two faced, sneaky, devious little s**t weasle who touted my job to others when I was off sick long term (among other wonderful acts) will be the one, and while I can apply for some of the new roles, those at risk get first shout.

Ummmm, not good, and Anna is right, it’s far too cold, I put the heating back on last night for bath and bed time with the kids….
