Just joking, these domestics are a trial, a real trial, I’m still waiting for our counselling on Monday to “help with the future” but no input as to what that future is, as a family or as a split couple. Maybe I’m just a simple man, but it seems we are at a fork in the road of life, left or right… either way lets just crack on and no more dithering….

The current Mrs BSG-75, wants “couples counselling” but to discuss our feelings , but wants us to seperate, but won’t go, and doesn’t know what seperation will achieve or if its a means to an end (get some space and see if we can work it out for example) and isn’t willing to accept the costs of that (additional rental etc) doesn’t know what she wants, but doesn’t want us, isn’t happy that if we tell the kids that I won’t have a “mummy and daddy have decided” speech because we haven’t, I lost track a bit then……

Years ago I worked in London and took the company coach back home to Hampshire. One night we were on the M4 in grid lock after an accident. Cold and chucking it down with rain, nasty night all round. I was dozing looking out of the window as a few cars had gone down the hard shoulder. After a while there was a traffic policeman there, in the yellow coat, soaking wet, then he had a HUGE :diablo: grin on his face, and I looked as he slowly raised his hand in a “stop” gesture and a car came to halt next to the coach. The driver (shirt and tie, no coat) was then made to stand in the rain to take his lecture from the policeman, before they got into the car to write up the ticket. Quality.

She was there “travelling” with her mother, who left her ALONE while she went of elsewhere. The trial is ongoing in India at the moment, but Sky News ran a by-line of the mother pleading guilty to benefits fraud of £19,000 !!!!!

I was disappointed, it didn’t have the same sense of period feeling as Band of Brothers.

I understand that, less background at home and no basic training to build the characters and period, it did go straight into the action. Once it started though, I thought it was a fantastic piece of TV, it looked great on my Sky HD box but (as above) the night attack on the bunkers was very vivid and as real as I would ever want to imagine that it could be. I had trouble sleeping afterwards as it was still zipping around my mind.

I don’t even think the titles have finished scrolling up the TV screen yet, I just saw the first two parts and it was an amazing piece of TV.

The close quarters fighting at night was especially harrowing and had me jumping out of my seat.

This awareness will continue to decline with time, especially with the passing of more and more veterans. I’ve said before that my generation (I was born in 1965) has the last “direct link” with the WW2 era as our grandparents experienced it(my grandfather was a fireman on Southampton docks, he lost his brother on a night raid he never talked about it as many chose not to)

Add the loss of that link and direct contact to the “sound bite” society we are in now, and in years to come WW2 could become as familiar as Waterloo. The upside is that technology allows more information to be saved, open to be interpreted as people see fit, without direct input from the sadly passed generation who lived through the time.

That said, “Pacific” is set on my sky HD box and I’m looking forward to it.

Sounds like she’s leaving all the decisions up to you. Maybe you could give her, say, a week to make her mind up, and tell her whatever she decides then is final, ie no more prevaricating? A week “set aside” from arguing might give you a breathing space too?

20% job cuts at work w/c April 19th, so thats crunch time, if I survive that then thats the deadline, if not then we need to negotiate temporary peace until I’m working again. Not fighting in front of the nippers, but the atmosphere can be picked up on. Thanks Mr Creosote, its a bit odd airing your troubles like this, then again it does let off a little steam posting from behind an alias (if that makes any sense?)
