Creaking Door has a good point and while it is possibly tasteless to put this into money based terms, I wonder what the difference was in cost to relocate the families (more than once it would seem) of the two found guilty, to the cost of any support given to the family of Jamie?
Plus the police costs of “keeping an eye” and protecting them?

Lets not forget as well that poor Jamie wasn’t the first attempt they made to take a child. Cold, calculating and fully aware that what they were doing was wrong even if not fully understanding of the “gravity” of murder.

Don’t have a problem with that, I got stiffed that much to visit someone in hospital recently.
Same here, as long as the money goes into the RAFM Coffers (or the electricity meter 😉 )
Cyclists
well, some of them…..
untrained, uninsured, unqualified, unregulated……………. and in many cases with a poorly judged application of sweaty spandex…..
and by the way you spandex wearing tree hugging, save the gay whale and nuclear weapons are phallic symbol believing hippy, you are not saving the planet and you did not invent the bike…..now get OFF the pavement so as you don’t run my poor old mum over again, get on the road, with lights that don’t flash, signal and look (not just one out of the two) and stop bitching about there being cars on the road.

Thank you both (hope the work thing sorts itself out Daz) without looking odd and and geeky pouring my heart out on the internet to people I’ve never met, actually being able to type it and say it helps with accepting it (if that makes any sense).
either way, a long few months ahead for me, the Mrs, and the kids…

divorce/seperation
seems thats heading my way, selling up, looking to buy two places so we can share custody of the nippers (6 and 10, this will break their hearts) the 50/50 split on everything does, it seem, extend to my die-cast models as well.
that and we are in a 3 month “hurry up and wait” situation at work to see who stays and who goes…
all in all, a few choice words have been in use today, and for the past few in truth….

J Boyle has quite clearly got the tongue firmly in the cheek. Otherwise simply perverse.
I think he is spot on, being one of the “cousins” he had access to the script use to create the whole conflict, it never happened, it was all a plot by Reagan/Thatcher to keep her in power by making a fake “war” on film :diablo: after the alternative scripts were canned.
as for The Belgrano, big enemy warship (key words here being enemy and war) in the location of UK forces, UK forces had opportunity to engage and they took it. From the non military comfort of my chair, that seems to be all well within the bounds of being reasonable (in so far as a war can be).
The irony is, had the ship gotten through, and launched an attack that effected the fleet at all, (say sank the Hermes and the fleet withdrew)would the apologists now be posting saying that had the UK not lost the war, the Junta would not still be in power and the blood of more of their torture and murder victims is on the UK’s hands? Add that to whatever the fate of the Islanders would have been?
