Prepare to clear the kitchen table this winter when Airfix release their long-awaited 1/24th scale Mosquito. A Bit expensive at around £70 to £80 but it will have over 600 parts. I still remember the 1/24th Spitfire my dad made over a period of weeks and which I wrecked in hours. In my defence I was only six at the time and aeroplane mad, as was my dad when I wrecked his pride and joy.

That could be impressive ! – I have a die-cast 1/32 Mosquito that takes up a fair bit of space, I did those 1/24 kits in my 20’s – the Hurricane and Spitfire they lasted long enough to start to dry out and become fragile. I did the 1/32 Beaufighter that Revill did as well, knocked it off the cabinet putting a jacket on, it doesn’t fly well 🙁

Thanks Baz – I’ve seen a lot of debate on colour schemes on here, but that suits the airframe IMO, maybe because its a clean and simple scheme on a cleaner earlier mark of Spitfire.

:D:D I have just had a run in with those guys, for once they had got their sums wrong! and they have to send me a nice cheque.

in 1999, I got married, got a company car and had a son all between May and November, it took them 5 years to get me straight with the tax code changes and they took me off self assessment, hit me with a bill, I asked to go back on self assessment then after 2 refunds in 2 years they gave up and took me off it again !

A couple of quid for three hours doesn’t seem unreasonable to me as the museum is still free. Certainly won’t stop me going.

I agree, an “up front” fee would be more open but there is bound to be something behind the scenes that dictates this as a way to swell the coffers. Accounting rules are taking over the world of business as the moment, I’m sending stock to the crusher at work to look good on one finance entry, when I could break it for spares or even donate it externally, but crushed takes out a line. Maybe with fees gained not from direct admission, it doesn’t affect any grant etc.

Its not like the hospital policy of selling the “rights” to run the car park,:mad:

I love Cosford and this wouldn’t stop me going – car park or entry fee, you are still a few quid lighter – if there was an entry fee of this nobody would stop going from here surely ?

Free is good, especially with kids in tow, and if took my two to Cosford, I’d only pay to park one car, not 3 entry fees. I’m Ok with it I have to say.

Strong rumours at work that there will be more cuts in September and this time the packages will be drastically cut back from one month per year, to two weeks or even basic Government level, which to me will mean a drop from over one years salary to less than two months.

I had my hands on the SR-71 last week at Duxford, imagining it at hight and speed over Korea, Vietnam, Egypt…… call me wierd but I find it very inspiring at times, and very thought provoking to have tactile contact with a living piece of history.

That Buchon picture and the Camel/Triplane ones are superb action shots, congratulations.
