Didn’t Hawker draw up designs for the Hunter as well as a “business jet” and also IIRC, Martin did in the US with the B-57/Canberra.

Maybe so… but in return they did give us my favourite among US Naval aircraft, the Vought F7U Cutlass (or gutlass).:)

Good call ! – Read somewhere about one under restoration in the USA – said to be in a good enough condition to fly, can’t see it, even with a more liberal attitude over there with “historics”…huge loss rate on these in accidents IIRC.

The initial Dauntless II, Skyshark and a few others probably won’t win any prizes for looks either would they!?

I’m a tad late as I’ve only just seen it. I thought it was excellent, while (obviously) an aviation enthusiast, WW1 era is outside of my main area, in fact I don’t think I own a WW1 book, model etc. I thought it was well researched, stayed away from any sensationalism at all and told a sad story, with a twist with regard to the missing grave.

No issues with the CGI, only meant to be a representation, the programme is aimed also at a wider audience, I’ll try and read on a little more.

I say well done BBC…… pyramids next week, I’ll stay tuned, last weeks was very good as well.

Not nescasarily, Cosford (admittedly more before modernization) and Duxford have bags of Character.

Over the past 18 months I’ve taken my son to Hendon, Yeoville, Cosford, DH Museum, Midland Air Museum and Duxford. Whatever the feelings on Cold war museum etc, Cosford (for me) nails the balance between history and “entertainment” as well as education. When last there I asked one of the staff where the ME-163 was, and we chatted about it (and the ME-410) for a good 15 mins. Midlands and DH museum, staffed by wonderful people, friendly, open, helpful. Duxford, always something happening there… I love it.

Hendon, falls short of all of these places on presentation and atmosphere, oddly enough, its the only place my lad hasn’t asked to go back to when we are planning a trip. (Solent sky maybe this week-end….)

Seems entertained and we learned a lot about Mosquitos last week-end, its our new favourite (after for some reason P-40’s but there you have it)…..the happier children are, the more they learn and the more they want to go back – this one has already asked to go back to Bruce’s place again.

Youtube and other web sites carry still shots of (it is alleged) an 8 year old having his arm laid out to be run over by a car as punishment for stealing a loaf of bread in Iran.

No conclusive proof other than some pretty grim looking images, however, to go back on some earlier posts above, if I parade with a banner that says “Islamic courts maim children” etc etc – I’d be nicked, PDQ and up in court.

I wonder – would I be in the magistrates next to the guy with the “soldiers kill children” banner – would I *****.

I’m with you, seriously, it doesn’t need a happy meal with every visit, but hands on is vital and to repeat my earlier post, my lad left Cosford with his brain full to the brim and asking questions all the way home.

Bruce has a good point as well, in comparison, I’m a season ticket holder at Tottenham. The board there don’t like me that much (or season ticket holders in general) As I go every week, I don’t go to the shop, don’t buy the merchandise, don’t call “the club call hotline” etc don’t add money to the coffers other than what I stump up front before I see how much of a dogs dinner they are making of the season and they have already spent on sacking a badly appointed manager!
