The only P-39 book I know is “God is My Co-pilot”.

Ah, that’s the one. The Airacobra pilot doesn’t do anything for the old grey cells though. RAF or USAAF?

USAAF, pacific, its driving me mad…. had small line drawings in it, and I can remember one passage about how the P-400 felt different when the cannon fired over the P-39… I can see the **** book in my mind, white cover, it was really unusual, downplayed himself, no kills etc etc…. you just now you’ll see a eureka post from me at 4:15 am when I wake up and it hits me…!

it was Blenheims for certain not Beauforts, hardback had a photo on the front, of a Blenheim flying over s ahsip, its driving me mad now….!

lovely aircraft though – keep your prissie mossies, give me a beau anytime.

remember building a big 1/32 scale revell kit once, took ages….matt black, lasted about 3 days, took a nose dive off a shelf……:mad: still, the fun was in the making

Yeah, I noticed it, but I also noticed in another trailer a single-engine-type aircraft as well, looked a lot like a desert Hurricane….

bit of a blur but I thought P-40 with shark mouth?

these movies a great but a dream for us to point out things like this.

airship in the second one, and His Majesties Royal Flying Service in the first…..

I love ’em though – but the beau was an odd choice, maybe it was just find a nice picture in a book and copy it.

If anybody has seen the two movies “flags of our fathers” and “letters from iwo jima” the CGI Corsairs look OK, even the brief in cockpit view doesn’t look too much like a video game.

Further to my last, I have been told that when the Sabre ran, icey exhaust fumes vented to the exterior caused a minor ‘snow’ storm in the adjoining street – much to the consternation of the driver of a passing horse and cart (it was c.May 1943 I believe). The trials may have been in connection with the plans to divert Typhoon output to Russia.

would they have wanted them? had the best ground attack plane of the war in the Il-2 range IMO, and when they got P-47’s for air to ground they hardly used them. off thread sorry….:eek:

And a darned sight cheaper than British Gas at the moment!

would love to add that to my homecare agreement – can’t get the parts to repair, give me cash to get a new one then !!

But as we’ve said, who would go near it once running !?

assume that those sawn off blades will rotate close to the piller and the exhaust gas will be carried away along those tubes – I still wouldn’t get close to it…. curious – where did you get it from or is that part of the quiz as well!

please tell me it was taken last week and there is a working Sabre and half an airframe somewhere:diablo: nice….
