sorry – didn’t explain myself – I understand the technical merits, I worry about the weight issue etc – but as somebody says above, damn its ugly and while perhaps such feelings belong on the historical forum where I tend to stick, it just doesn’t look right to me – that said, the Boeing looked worse. I think I’m more concerned at range, payload, weight on the VTOL version, then I’m far from an expert so I’ll take what you say – but, well, as my son says, I just don’t like it…..:(

a quiet moment to reflect

A good friend of mine said to me that he worries that our generation (I’m 42, he is 45) are the last “in touch” with these events as it was part of our upbringing and our world is full of over hyped “heroes”, that the media have created.

I’ve never served in the military, I am fortunate enough to have had that free choice and as my son starts to study history in school on a very different way that I was tought, I’ll make as much informaton available to him as possible so he can learn about these servicemen and what they did.

When an overpaid footballer can be a hero for earning 50 grand a week to kick a ball, a quiet moment of reflection (and prayer if thats your thing..) is called for, and maybe what they would ask for.

at legends last year I took my son for his first ever flight in a classic wings Rapide – another passenger took some snaps of us and said he would mail them on, they got to me and I was trying to see if I could trace him – I never got the snaps which was a shame but I enjoy some of the chit chat etc on here.

I work in the service industry for an electronics company and we are often “threatened” by a forum posting and some of the stuff thats posted is just trash and lies – we keep an eye on them but can’t respond for obvious reasons – generally I find this one very civilised – sea vixen discussions not withstanding !
