this truely breaks my heart
I cannot believe a lot of the negativity around this project here, Aviation history is full of people with dreams, people with desire, successes and failure, it seems that the reach of these guys may have exceeded their grasp, but they tried, they are trying and while will power alone won’t get the old girl up in the air, it will help. Frankly, who gives a stuff about the lottery cash when you see the garbage it has been spent on in some cases. Not a penny spent on 558 would have put a doctor on a ward, a book in a school, a policeman on the streets. The trust jumped through all the hoops and got the cash and I say bless them each and every one – maybe, just maybe, a plan to get a 4 engine jet bomber into the air in private hands is too much, maybe it could have funded an expedition to China to find a Stirling, or to Russia to find a Hampden…. it didn’t and 558 is testament to a dream, ambition and hard work. I salute them, I won’t second guess them and I’ll send a cheque, not millions or thousands, but I’ll do a little bit – because I can.
