I’ve seen somewhere a “razorback” P-47 with a malcolm hood, 99% certain I’ve seen a photo if not colour artwork. It desn’t answer this but I thought I’d throw in my two’penneth. will start pulling books open now to see what I can find….
thanks for all the gen above, very interesting
As for the radius of action, I would not be as generous as the Encylopedia of WMA. There are many open sources that are complete nonsense. For instance the operational data for the Vulcan used by HQ FEAF planning staffs was more akin to the Observer’s Book of Aircraft.
.
Didn’t the US Navy do the same when they were pitching for funds to build the huge supercarriers at the cost of the B-36/B-52? They made a map that showed how A-1’s, A-3’s and A-4’s could nuke most of mother Russia, working on the undisclosed assumption that a carrier could sail up rivers etc ! 😮
I like it
sorry, but I think it suits the aircraft, there is (to me anyhow) something very 80’s about it and while I’m of an all over barley grey man myself, I think it will look superb and cudos to anybody involved. One more airframe preserved in my view is all we all want.:D
He probably went and saw Pearl Harbour for the first time and the shock was too much. 😀
.
Ouch, harsh but true….. Tora Tora Tora runs like a mini series, ever seen the documentary they made about it that showed on sky movies a while back? Really interesting, a lot of the Japanese military were so stoic and wooden as they were the industrialists etc who put up the money!
As for Pearl Harbour…. oh it makes me cringe, can’t decide if “are all yanks so desperate for a fight” or the “Oh, P-40’s” line from the sailor floating around the harbour is the worst. Tora Tora Tora is a cracking movie, well worth a wet sunday afternoon
I dislike moaning about other peoples kids, I have two of my own – but some ferrell moron was swinging on the Fulmar rudder at Yeovillton last time I was there. 😡 😡 and Spurs have just lost again, my mood won’t improve much…
march 2008? Sky moved razor from this week (an excuse to test out that F word theory!) to the 18th Dec I think…..
I I’d be afraid that a 2nd TAF novel would end up being ‘The Big Show’ with different names…
a very large penny just dropped in the old grey matter – I knew I’d read something like that ! – been turning the house upside down to find my copy!
Did they ever settle the “issue” about the late Mr Clostermanns kills and claims?
does that mean we can use the alternative f word on here then !:diablo:
wonderful…
a real “what if” with me the Whirlwind…. lovely looking thing as well.
I tried blue man falling
I thought he took some elements of “cake” (French colonial troop decapitating air crew etc) and it wasn’t as good. Do you know any more about the new book – got a link or anything ?
thank you
The poor blokes in uniform will loose out
I’ve never served in the military, but think that sending those that do into combat without the very best of everything that money can buy is shameful, as is the care they get when they come back. Its one thing to send them into legally debatable conflicts, but do it looking over their shoulders at incoming accountants is just wrong. They need more kit, more helicopters, more close air support and more transports. Did I mention AAR tankers as well???? 😡 😡
Thank you
not seen that in years – think I’ll add the DVD to my letter to Santa……Swordfish, Sopwith Tri-Plane, Spit’s…… what else could a man ask for…?
any other ultravox fans….
Reap The Wild Wind had a great video, had a quick scan of the WWW but couldn’t find it, Spits and old newsreel footage…. they don’t make ’em like that any more:(
Piece Of Cake and the bridge…
I read that they talked about special effects, and Mr Hanna said “no, its OK, I’ll do it” – 300 MPH ? Still gives me goose bumps – sadly missed, both Hannas.
I agree
They did seem to do a lot of aerobatic teams at times, I remember looking at the Hunters one time and wondering why there wasn’t an Omani Air Force for example. That said, I bet everybody on here has a wish list a mile long for a die cast something or other.
