I love this film. Tightly made and an in depth look at the Cuban Missile Crisis, it touches on the conflict between JFK and the Joint Chiefs as well.

It also has a mix of CGI (not great) archive footage (B-52 with Skybolt) and F-5’s and F-8’s painted up to look operational.

same method, just a different forum, it’s easy once you get the hang of it.

Diecasts are nice but they don’t thrill me all that much as they never match the accuracy of (most) plastic kits. If they did, I would have stopped buying plastic a long time ago! The 144th scale models are particularly uninspiring as they’re basically solid lumps with no detail at all. Then again, some of the models are surprisingly good – look at that Jet Provost that appeared recently…

Those that can build, those that can’t (EG, me 😮 ) buy…. there is a huge amount of variation in quality and none of the satisfaction at all in building your own, but some of the price/quality has changed recently and while some of the RRP’s are high, some research and shopping around can find bargins.

    My latest

my Duxford purchases (the B-25 is an old model but very nice)

The Provost was a “Skymax” model, they also make an excellent Tempest and this F9F.

the quality of the Sea Vixen mouldings is easily on a par with the Lightnings

Must have improved significantly then. I’ll reserve judgement until I see a boxed production kit!:p

anyone know if Corgi are going to produce a die cast model of one?

    !

Witty Wings are bringing out a Sea Vixen at some stage, but the Witty design quality is , ahem, “variable”, they made a Gannet which OK, was the best that could be done with a pig ugly aeroplane (no offence Pagen01!;)) and a Tornado F-3 that looks like my 6 year old daughter designed it.

There is also a thread there on the new Corgi 1/144th Valiant that may interest Chox.

I always go green when I see the quality of builds that some people can make (like the good Doctor here) I bought BSG Junior a 1/24th Airfix Mustang for his birthday, the plan being it will be a joint effort over a few months.

Other than that, it’s the diecast option for me still……:o
