Apparently the abovementioned T-37 is already in Germany… 😮

Scroll all the way down below for both. Yes, this was a rather unexpected sight! 😀
Was this an accident? Hmmm……

Flag poles, a scissor lift, a fourwheel drive vehicle…. No wonder the police was called… 😡 😮
http://www.luchtvaartnieuws.nl/news/?ID=30860 has more news about this foundation…
It very likely isn’t financially…
Officially at least KLM is not “the main financial sponsor” of this project.
Last year a rather high-profile “donate for the Constellation” programme was set up. Hundreds of people donated one hundred euros (was about 70 GBP back then…) or more to become a “VIP-member”, plus thousands putting in lesser amounts of money.
The following of “Dutch Connie” has been rather strong with people and (small) companies supporting her over the years, whether in kind/natura or guilders/euros.
Also huge charity/lottery funds could be obtained last year, and these funds will flow in between now and about 2013-is. Even without KLM’s support the Constellation would now be “financially independent”, at least for this year.
This decision has all the hallmarks of “being afraid of one’s corporate image” and concerns for “liability”.
People are mostly angry about the timing of this decision, plus the fact that people donating money and CERTAINLY all those hardworking volunteers were suddenly faced with this decision, without any explanation at all.
The volunteers, a lot of whom have been working on N749NL from about 2000/2001, feel they’ve been betrayed by “the board”… 😡
“Cold feet” VERY late in the day…
Taken from http://www.scramble.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=44868&start=45 .
The timing of this decision is rather unfortunate to say the least. I hope the one responsible for this is made VERY aware that this is not the way to treat hard-working volunteers… 😡
Money just cannot buy everything…
OK, here is info from a reliable source with KLM, that I will not further disclose.
The ban on flying has everything to do with reliability (in retrospect: what else…). The risks of ‘just flying’ this aircraft are deemed too high and solutions will be sought to manage those risks. How that will be done remains unclear, but a form similar to the Dakota operation seems likely.
Questions that remain:
– How long will it take to meet the liability-related demands, if it is feasable?
– Why was this decision taken now, on the brink of the first flight after so much hard work? Did nobody see this coming?
– And still: why on earth has nobody from the board come out yet to simply explain matters? We wait in anticipation…
http://www.scramble.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?p=328355 shows pictures made during taxi-ing for her testflight and eventually her departure back home… 🙂
I hope those concerned (Amsterdam Airport, various authorities, etc.) were lenient in charging extra costs, if any…
At least she was very welcome in the Dutch Dakota Association’s hangar! 🙂

And the Lancaster should at about now be back home at Coningsby, having departed from Amsterdam at 19.35 hrs local time. 😀
As much as I admire BC’s efforts in historical aviation, he almost sends me to sleep during Legends…
The same could not be said of the (in?)famous Jerry Mead ! :diablo:
As of 14.30 hrs local time today PA474 is making a testflight around Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. 🙂
See http://www.scramble.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=52116 for any further updates.
Because of weather problems the first “post-engine swap test flight” and (hopefully!) subsequent ferry flight back to the UK is again postponed, now to this Tuesday…
This Friday morning they will try again… Apparently the weather in the UK is keeping the Lancaster from leaving Amsterdam…
For updates, see http://www.scramble.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=51949
Was PA474 supposed to make an appearance somewhere in the UK this weekend ?
Still over here…
As of this Tuesday the 12th of May Lancaster PA474 is STILL at Amsterdam. She already has her “new” Merlin fitted in nacelle nr. 4 but apparently bad weather in the UK is holding her back. 🙁
She also still has to make her first “post-replacement” test flight. Engine runs were already performed last Saturday.
It may be the Lanc will go back to the UK this Thursday the 14th.
