Congratulations on such a wonderful milestone!
The amount of work and effort that Tony has put in to this project is staggering.
Any thoughts of dismantling it to bits to try to turn it in to a flyer would be an absolute shame.
She’s magnificent!!

The wing for this Spitfire was built by Vintage Wings of Canada in Gatineau Quebec. Primarily by Ken Wood.
It is not a photo recce wing. It is a custom modification that uses the real estate, that would ordinarily be occupied by the weapons, to house fuel tanks to provide extra range.
I think it is safe to say that all (regularly flown)Spitfires are currently equipped with dummy armament.

Much like a visit to the doctor, I don’t “like” it. However I realize that certain things are necessary. I also appreciate the time and efforts that moderators and technical folks put in.
As has already been mentioned, I too am having a harder time reading the text.

No apology required Geoff.
I was merely making a clarification.
The RL201 pic added info to the thread for sure.
All best

Hi Stan.
Would you have the drawings for repairing the cracked pedestals and the replacement studs?
Thanks in advance

The original de Havilland plant still stands. It has been turned in to a Tech school.

Bombardier Aerospace, as an aside, has sold the airport property. The current plan is for the airfield to cease operations in about five years.

The second photo (RL 201) is the Alberta FSM.
I see the Toronto Aerospace museum replica quite often as I work at Toronto Pearson Airport.
I took the third picture (as Geoff has credited) as that is a friend of mine standing underneath.
I have often lamented that this very nicely done replica might meet the fate of the original and get chopped up.
This defunct museum has also lost Lancaster FM104, so, that doesn’t really bode too well for the fate of this Arrow.

Oh how tragic!
So sorry to hear of this tragedy.
My condolences to family and friends.

What happens in many cases, is the unusable remains get scrapped in order to protect provenance.

Thanks for posting those links John (along with all the cool info you post. I really enjoy it, along with your expertise)
I bet they’ll even be able to straighten and reuse that prop!
That’s a Klimov V-12 correct?
I bet it gets replaced with an Allison.
Andy
My thoughts and prayers to families and friends.
So awful.

Thanks for posting that fantastic period shot.
I’d bet dollars to doughnuts, that the folks embarking on this project, have done their homework in regards what they need to bring this to fruition.
I look forward to learning of any progress.

If it was a Blenheim I’ have a pretty good guess as to which one ;-P…….

Blue, you really need to get a hobby! 🙂
Thought of taking up singing?
More great work folks. Looks like you’re having fun!

If you view the youtube link frame by frame you can see the lock ring getting launched away from the aircraft!
