Would you please stop polluting this topic with completely useless and unnecessary toy pictures, you can make your point without them.

Well, a MiG-31 derivative (in line with the MiG-29M/35 and Su-35 deep upgrades of MiG-29/Su-27) with an AESA radar, improved RVV-BD class and RVV-SD class missiles, latest IRST, self defence and datalink systems and maybe improved engines will be quite a sight. Something like the MiG-31M , but 25 years more advanced. 😮

Thanks for both your input Trident and TR1.:)

Apparently, a venezuelan trainee on one of S-300VM’s vehicles ( radar vehicle?), presumably Russia.

This news article says that the Anteys will be “installed” ( presumably made operational) between june and september.

Anyway, speaking of russian SAMs, anything new a about the next generation of SAMs like Buk-M3, Vityaz, Morfei, S-500, Sosna (Bagulnik?), Verba MANPADS etc. ?

Thanks TR1, you wouldn’t know by any chance of a pic of Antey missiles storage containers? Also how many Anteys are in 2 divizions, and how many Buks in 3 divizions?

Speaking of S-300s, my memory might be failing me here, but i had the feeling i’ve read somewhere (here, presumably) that the S-300PMU types are either out of production, or near the end of it (totally replaced by S-400?) What is the situation, are they still produced for export customers, in parallel with S-400 or not ? Thank you.

Well, if they started a few less wars, there will be plenty of money for flying you know… anyway what a joke , who knows what kind of political crap is happening behind the scenes, 600 BILLION dollars ( six hundred billion!) budget and poor US military has no money for flying, boo-hoo …
Oh and btw, while they’re at it, they should take all these squadrons back in their own country, what are they doing over here, or on the continent…
Not interested in getting into a (nother) political polemic with anyone, just my thoughts on this situation.

So what missiles would be in those storage containers, for Buk or Antey ?

I think the Buk-M2 pics shows the crews being trained on it in Russia, the Buks don’t appear to have arrived in Venezuela yet. Might be wrong though.

Hopefully they will get some Su-35s too, to go with these new air defense systems! :p

Did Pogo meant more SMT deliveries for an export customer, or for RuAF? If true, does that mean RuAF will modernize some of it’s MiG-29s to SMT? Thanks.

Not sure, but it’s going to happen pretty soon this decade i would think, not even the mighty MiG-25 lasts forever.

However, there is one thing (and many others) our misinformed Typhoon chap misses out in, is Field of Regard. Irbis-E has an azimuth coverage of 120 degrees, Captor-E has an azimuth coverage of some 220 degrees.

I’m pretty sure you’re wrong on that one, it must be 240 degrees for Su-35. It’s PESA antenna is also mechanically steered ( like a traditional slotted array f.e). so it’s 120 degrees each side for Su-35 and 110 for Typhoon (because of the gimballed antenna limits), but that difference is fairly small.

The fixation on despicable, :dev2: evil :diablo: “profit” is both hilarious and distrubingly sad.

Hilarious because some have no idea what it is or how it is derived, and sad because their lack of understanding apprears to be the result of long-term programming using propaganda.

Do MMA posters realize the profit for selling F-22s and F-35s is about 7% of sale price? Not 70% or 700%, but a measley 7%? And that profit is verified by DCAA who reports all aspects of cost performance to the USG and Congress. There are no “hidden profits” or fees to find their way into Swiss bank accounts because that results in prison time. And taxes and R&D expenses are paid out of those profits before they are distributed to stockholders (typically employee pension funds).

So let’s compare profits of :diablo: evil :dev2: American defense businesses with other commercial businesses.
Your local grocer will typically make 5-7% profit.
Your local restaurant will typically make 10% profit.
Your local petrol station will make 2% profit while his wholesaler makes 3-5% profit.
The establishment which sold your telly typically makes 10-20% profit.
Most investment bankers will not touch a startup business unless the business plan shows an ROI of 25-30%.

And the US isn’t the only seller of military jets. Don’t like F-35s or F-15/16/18s? Go buy Typhoons, Rafales, Gripens, SU-30s or MiG-35s! Nobody is holding a gun to your head, forcing you to buy F-35s.

Hilarious that evil :diablo: Lockheed or :dev2: Boeing or :diablo: Raytheon or :dev2: General Dynamics tricked Saddam into attacking Iran and later Kuwait! 😀 Or those same companies tricked Jihadists to act out on 9/11, Madrid or 7/11. All for “profit”.

Actually, it is quite sad that intelligent persons can be programmed into believing such tripe.

With all due respect, getting over the fact that what you posted as reply was basically many emoticons (which actually makes me think there’s not much to argue against my unpleasant points :)), and not wanting to go on about this “programming” (have no idea what you mean, i know it features in movies over there though, sleeper soviet agents everywhere etc.), i’ll just reply that regarding profit, actually it’s far more than 7% imo. How comes? Well, taking as example F-35 (but could be anything else in place), what are the primary materials in that plane ? Let’s say for the sake of it titanium, aluminum and carbon composites. Now someone has to actually dig them out from the ground, separate them or whatever they do, and sell them at a profit. Now the next guy comes along and works it into bits and pieces, panels and whatnot, and he sells it at a profit to LM. Which LM puts it together as an F-35, adds this and that, paints it, and sells it at a profit!
Mind you this is just a representative example in no way factually correct, but i’m sure you get what i mean. Pretty sure there must be a lot more intermediary steps between excavating materials from the ground and transforming it into an F-35.
