EODAS – like devices should pick it up within 10nm or so.
The F-22 cannot do the mission of the F-35
–no 2k Internal weapons
–no IRST
–no FLIR
–no STOVL
–no Navel version
–no Export version
–Difficult to upgrade avionics
–Much higher lifetime costs (the largest singe cost factor) would wipe out any development and acquisition cost savings.
So there is an EXPORT version of the F-35 after all. I thought you said all F-35s for either USAF or “partners” are exactly the same, no downgrades etc …:)
Oh and i haven’t missed the part about SEPARATE reprogramming labs for US and export F-35s.;)
Oh and to Maurobaggio, i never said a MiG-25PD shot down that Tornado, i said a MiG-29 did.
Steve49,
Yes sure , just bare in mind you won’t find them anywhere in “official” sources as those two having being shot down by another fighter, and in case of one , nothing is listed “officially” on the day the shoot-down (or at least damage) supposed to happen.
So in addition to the F-18 shot down by Dawood on the 17th, apparently there is that F-14 supposedly lost to an “optical guidance” SA-2 ( i’ve never found one of those yet ), but reputable researchers point that the nearest SA-2 was either outside the kill zone or just at the very edge of it, AND there were at least a MiG-29 and a MiG-25 close by which apparently fired against that F-14.
Also there is apparently an USAF F-15C shot down or at least damaged in an ambush on the 30th of january ( or 1st of february…maybe the different dates have to do with the timezones). You will definitely find no mention of such things in “official” records , although at the same date the famous engagement against 2 MiG-25s occurred where the americans fired 10 missiles without hitting any MiG, apparently following them all the way to landing! They were really pissed off that night to take such risks, wonder why.
I can’t recall the date now, but there is an USAF F-15C who supposedly lost a portion of the wing during a MiG chase, and of course there is that saudi F-15C lost in an accident (they say ) on the 13th of february, some rumor being that the saudi pilot did not wanted to refuel from a female US tanker crew, so he ran out of fuel! This as far as damaged or lost F-15Cs during that war.
Now i know how the “usual suspects” react to such claims, but just bare in mind this : remember that SECOND F-117 damaged by the serbs? On this very forum it happened, when someone came and said that there was a second F-17 damaged, he was ripped to pieces insulted, branded a liar, the incident branded impossible , the serbs were only just lucky to shot down the first F-117 etc. Then, an OFFICIAL US source confirmed (probably by accident) the second F-117 damaged, and the usual suspects suddenly went “oh wow, did it really happened? Ok, lemme do a FOIA request for more details…hmm, well they say they have 5 documents about it but it’s classified…”
So, you never know what might be eventually confirmed in the future.:)
And what is this having to do with IRAQ’s armed forces again ?! Make a topic Israel vs. Iran or something and go argue there, but please stop derailing this topic, especially with this religious nonsense!
How much would it be for a Mi-28N ?
Don’t think “debating” anything about Goldusts’ claims helps this topic any, with all due respect. That Toofan thing appears to have the same type of displays in the cockpit like that uber-duper “Qaher” mock up anyway…and we know what those displays are.
The dictatorship in DPRK is solely responsible for death by starvation of its people, not the Americans as Rii insists in his “millions” statement.
Total rubbish! The reason koreans are starving is because of the USA’s ever increasing thirst for profit. Just read the posts before, another 10 or ( much!) more billions for those F-35 or F-15 going in the american militaro-industrial complex’s bag. This is the reason, the HUNDREDS and THOUSANDS of billions they make off “protecting” their “allies” against the evil NK or Iran, or China, or Russia etc. They try their best to maintain strife and discord, they try their best to seed paranoia and suffering in the “evil” countries, especially small ones like NK or Iran, by embargoes, sanctions and all that stuff (remember Iraq and it’s sweet oil? They said themselves they embargoed Iraq through the nineties so that the peoples will get so desperate and starving that they will topple Saddam for them. No, it didn’t happened, although half a million to a million people died- but they don’t count, after all they are only arabs).
Peace in the korean peninsula (or ME etc.) is not an option for USA. Imagine a sudden friendship and cooperation treaty between NK and SK , or some inter-asian agreement between China, Japan, other countries in the area etc, that remove any discord reasons and promotes an Asia for asians policy. The americans will be stuffed! Who will they be selling their ***, all those juicy billions they make off weapons, all the economic coercion and domination of their “allies” there, all that will be gone. Oh no, they don’t want that.
This thirst for profit seems to have developed ever larger during the Cold War and as much as the russians were some sort of buffer ( not that stalinism and bolshevism are to write home about, but they served some interests perfectly, ironically), restricting what they can afford to do worldwide, after 1990 they really went out of control, Iraq, Balkans,Afghanistan, Libya you name it. Someone mentioned policemen, well US is one of those corrupt, violent, greedy policemen, unpredictable and all-powerful (he thinks),ruling through fear, but one that is loathed by everyone who are just waiting and hoping for an opportunity to get rid of him. God help him when he’s down.
NK is a milking cow, privately i’m sure the americans are having a toast for them every day, counting their cash made off their backs, and even if a war will start, which disturbingly some are itching for, they welcome it too, the NK will be easily defeated obviously, but still, that war and “pacification” is going to cost HUNDREDS of billionsor TRILLIONS, so more good times for the US militaro-industrial complex. Besides there’s always China, that is THE cow to milk.
By the way, regarding the militaro-industrial complex, someone mentioned about 9/11 (shamefully used as a justification for the subsequent wars and invasions), i see the far right crowd crying with crocodile tears about their oh so hard worked money spent, 6 trillions or something (without usually mentioning ANYTHING about the MILLIONS of iraqis and afghans killed, crippled or having had their lives and families destroyed), well they should ask themselves WHERE those money went, what did 6 TRILLION bought? They should ask LM and General Motors and Texaco and Armalite and so on, and so on …that’s where their 6 trillions are.
So yes, it is things like the above that makes anyone with a reasonable level of intelligence and education loath and be increasingly disgusted by the americans’ actions on the world scene, just like i do. It’s not the “ungrateful” world’s fault, it’s theirs.
It appears that MiG-25 pilots have been credited by the iraqi headquarters after long investigations to validate their claims with 3 kills, there’s the well known F/A-18, and another two “coalition” aircraft, but if i even mention them some folks will have a hearth attack so…:)
Also, one MiG-29 pilot was credited with a Tornado kill (as discussed ad nauseaum in another topic). Finally , there were several “damaged” claims that have been credited.
Slightly related (or unrelated), here’s some egyptian SAMs, Tor, Buk and Pechora-2s among others, including S-75s carried by a new vehicle. Wonder if the S-75s have been upgraded as well , would make sense to integrate some Pechora-2 elements imo.

Not everyone agrees, in a thread on the General Discussion forum, Lincoln 7blamed the US, calling the B-2 flights provacative, ignoring they were sent only AFTER NK began its recent rants and threats.
People will see what they want to see.
To him, the US is the bigger evil.
Of course it’s *** provocative, flying a NUCLEAR B-2 stealth bomber at their borders?! They did it because they want to MAINTAIN the tensions, rather than do any kind of efforts to diffuse it. There are all kinds of maniacs over there who are itching for a war just like some folks in this very thread!
Btw me i wouldn’t even trust what they say the north koreans said, we’re bombarded daily with bombastic news stories about the evil NK and evil Kim Jong Un that you can’t help thinking there’s something rotten with all this. I will eat my boot if that twenty something Kim Jong Un guy wants to get into a war and get himself killed rather that go in fun rides and play on his computer and ride his horses! Really !?
3- tell me what version of mig-21 was upgrade to 8.5 G exactly , was any of them even sold ????
If you’d actually bother to learn a bit about the things you want to talk about, you’d know that MiG-21bis, the last and most successful MiG-21 variant is rated at 8.5 G. Over 2000 were built and sold worldwide 1972-1985 or 86 (i think).
Anyway, i’m probably wasting my time here , no offense.
Any idea what kind of air defence systems the iraqi committee saw in France, long range or short range ?
And yeah Goldust is in the wrong thread. 🙂
As much as it would be nice to have this deal finally confirmed, the initial source is not fooling around with this april 1st thing, right ?
Some of you are really itching for a war, aren’t you ? You are insane folks.
