I wouldn’t say MiG-29 and several other russian aircraft follow the layout of the A-5 (bar the MiG-25 perhaps).
LII December 2012.:)

Aren’t the 18 ex-IAF Su-30K supposed to be refurbished for the Belarussian Air Force?
Mack8, this was sworn testimony given by a high ranking Australian Military officer, not a LM hack or blogger. It was nowhere near PR.
Um… yes but that information comes from the “20,000pages of data” (you say) LM is sending to “partner nations” every month! I seriously doubt the “partner nations” are getting anything but the best dressed info anyway. Some foreign officials still go by the 65 millions figure or other projected costs ( as opposed to real ones).
Anyway, so if the KS-U is on the sides now , what will be in the 3 apertures over the nose? I think most of us thought that the KS-U will be located there.
Obviously, that’s just some numbers which are terribly misinterpreted for PR reasons. Probably in those “650” ways are included all possible combinations of external and EXTERNAL information collecting/sharing methods (satellite , AWACS, voice com, radar, EOTS, EODAS etc etc.). Hell probably they add to that “650” every silly little thing , so that it looks good on a powerpoint. One thing is sure those “650” ways will never be used at once. It’s impossible! Probably this “650” is as relevant as the 800nm detection range (of a ballistic missile booster) of the EODAS.
Glad to be proven wrong with a list of these 650 ways. Oh, it’s “classified”. Right.
Bigger version of the group photo above.
Right, so the sensors on the sides are 101KS-U. Wonder what is behind the cockpit…
Well, if you’re talking in WW2 related terms, probably the F-35 is best equated to the Brewster F-2A. Some good items of equipment , but the thing as a whole is a flying barrel.:D
Thank you for the info Sainz. Would you think this is the same dispenser as in your picture?

Not really, seems to me they’re like on 50-3. Probably it’s the angle that is confusing.
Undoubtebly the most prolific SAM up to this point in time, with all of the talk of the newer S-300/400 and PAC-3 systems as well as other modern self-propelled types, it’s hard to believe the SA-2 series is still around.
My question is…..just how prolific is it still? I would presume that China is manufacturing some new variant given how they seem to breathe life into countless Soviet/Russian products…
What about the Russian’s themselves? Have they been completely retired?
To my knowledge the russian SA-2s were retired long ago ( they were supposed to be replaced by S-300 anyway) . I would think it’s the same with SA-3, 4 and 5 and perhaps even SA-6.
At these Links you can find some public details from ex-Soviet pilots, exercises at ‘Russian Top-Gun’. These are not exactly what you need, in most of the ‘fights’ the MiG-23 played F-15 vs MiG-21’s, but these are interesting.

P.S. Mog not quite correctly specify “range” and “high.” It is too proshlo.Zdes the forum there are members of the test, they have to correct. “Some standard ‘tactics’ for close-combat:

Hang on a sec, something very, very interesting for me… so the “wartime” MiG-21’s were supposed to fire chaff from the gun ?! Also, regarding the mysterious chaff&flare dispensers on MiG-21, so they supposed to be installed in wartime as well? Where were they fitted on the aircraft? And from when? Were these countermeasures devices planned to be used on WarPac air forces MiG-21’s as well?
I know the late model fighter MiG-23’s have chaff& flares dispensers built into the fuselage pylon, plus the later mod of two over-wing strakes (BVP-50-60). Were the MiG-23’s supposed to fire chaff from the guns as well?
Thanks.:)
Thank you KnAAPO, good work everyone 🙂
So is 50-4 having the full electronics suite?
Regarding KS-O , given the much smaller “thing” in it’s place, and the apertures on the side behind the cockpit, perhaps they changed KS-O to a fixed type ( with 3 “firing ports”, as opposed to the single turreted one on previous prototypes)?
Can anyone see two small “bumps” behind the cockpit roughly in line with the top KS-O element?
Does the nose cone has sawteeth yet?
Finally, any rough idea when 50-5 and 50-6 are supposed to fly (i know it’s supposed to be in 2013 , but when exactly?)
Sorry for the torrent of questions.:o
PS : Oh, and what about the infamous “surprise” we’re waiting for from Sukhoi, any update on that ?
Well if KnAAPO is going to release something will not be today (it’s evening there now )
according to grOOmi, 2nd flight was performed today
Defying superstition eh.:D
No pics released of T-50-4 yet? Does anyone seen it ? Any important modifications?
