Well yes and no! They got the T-10K-3 prototype from the Ukraine which is markedly different in certain areas to the SU-33 production variant, in particular lack of cannards.
Lacking what? Where did you got that info ? Look closer at that damn picture. 😉
Right, so the pilot actually made a perfect trap. Case closed.:)
Is it just me or does it seem like this batch will sport the same scheme as the recently shown Su-30SMs? Look at the closing seconds of this:

Bort 06, gray!
Oh god, Berkut is going to kill someone. :p
Pictures please, pictures!:p
So , if they are suposed to deliver 6 Su-35S’s to VVS this year , does that mean that the odd one out is black 01, right ? (it has non standard fittings, no antennas or chaff/flare launchers on tail boom for instance)
VVS will receive red 02,03,04, 05-07 , right ?
Wow. This is a historic moment for China . Congratulations.:)
(to the above question, i think the third wire class as “stellar” , if i’m not mistaken)
Let’s see the score so far…..
1. F-35 can’t Supercruise.. and then it does
2. F-35 can’t go above 20 AoA… and then it demonstrates 50 AoA
3. F-35 is not LO… and then it exceeds spec
4. F-35 can’t go beyond m1… and then it hits m1.66
5. F-35 is not maneuverable… and then it hits 9.9g
6. EODAS is short range only… and then it tracks a rocket launch from over 800 miles away
7. The helmet problems cannot be fixed… and then they are
8. F-35 can’t catch the wire… and then it does
You do realize that you’re taking the absolute best figures LM can boast about in in public, which are rather not representative for what the aircraft can do in real life. Pulling 9,9 G is NOT an indicative of how maneuverable it is , tracking an IRBM in perfect clear sky UP TO about 800miles is completely irrelevant in the real world (far more relevant is at what distance can it see another fighter or a SAM) , and going M1.2 without AB is something pretty much most recent fighters can. Most importantly all the above with good and bad comes and a hideous cost, PLUS more hideous costs with actually making the thing work roughly as advertised. Still keep with the $65m price?
I just realized that LM slogan ” We never forget who we are working for ” fits them perfectly. The answer is their pockets , of course!
I have the feeling this will turn into another F-104 story (corruption , scandals, lackuster performance). And you know why is the F-35 not on time , not on budget and not on goal? Because of greed. If we’ll be still around in a decade or so , you’ll see.:)
PS: I for one can only welcome such a turn of events btw, the more scandals, unmet goals and unmet schedules, that much time the “russkies” and the “chicoms” have time to just lay low and work hard to get their respective birds up and running and especially ON SALE.:D
can the Su-30 do every maneuver like those Operationally? can it do all of this with 8 AAMS? if it cannot then the argument is moot either way.
Beesly is a veteran test pilot. Ill take his word over yours.
Can the F-22 do every maneuver like those operationally? (no i don’t believe the ” but F-22 always perform in a combat representative configuration at airshows , full internal load and fuel!!11!!111!!!!” blah-blah-blah :))
Um…i think i’ve read that article ( Super Flanker or something like that) , probably there’s some confusion, you’re probably mixing 710 ( Su-35/27M engine testbed) with bort 503 which indeed is Su-30(MKK type), used for radar testing.

You cannot outmaneuver a modern WVR missile. Your only chance of survival is not to get shot at or kill the other guy first.
In the fifties and 60s, short range missiles were usually less maneuverable than their fighter targets. So they made missiles maneuverable , but then there was flares. So then they made them all-aspect and immune to flares, so now they have DIRCM.:)
Actually , yes bort 710 is a legacy Su-35 (Su-27M). But that’s a small detail.:)

While an interesting topic in itself , this is not really a tank forum , is it ? You’re probably better asking your questions on a land systems orientated forum imo. 🙂
4 of those 6 Su-35S’ are flying around already and are painted ;), and they have superb scheme.
I was in great mood today but when i saw this scheme i just wanted to stab kittens. In the face.
Still do.:)
Enjoy:

Interesting , a sort of confirmation of their training orientated role. Looks like it has some sort of curtain for blind/reduced visibility training in the front cockpit (don’t remember seeing that on any “combat” Su-30 MKI-types).
Would be great if you can do that Berkut.:)
Oh well, colour is not everything… Say, you think they’re gonna paint the 6 Su-35S that are to be delivered before year-end the same ? (please Berkut, calm down and don’t hurt anyone, it’s alright we’ll get used to it :p)
