there is virtually no chance of Sukhoi doing it when only a few hundred T-50s are being produced.
How do you know that (not only about the CNRP components re-certification, but also about T-50s production) ? Simple answer is you don’t, you can only speculate, don’t forget to mention that .:)
Let me just add that LIFT means “Lead in Fighting Trainer”, range is 3.500 km and one more photo:

In what thread on mycity-military that picture has been posted Acatomic ? Thanks.
It will be awesome if the serbs will build that up to date Novi Avion LIFT derivative , no matter with who… what engine is the new proposal suposed to have?
Alot of exclusive pictures released on forcesdz.com occasioned by the anniversary of Revolution Day (November 1) in Algeria. A taste of what’s been released…

Merci a tous.:)
But most of the F-35’s current customers and likely future customers are unlikely to want Chinese equipment since they’re either part of NATO or have been using Western equipment for a long time. Unlikely that they’ll switch to a J-31 even if it turns out to be good. I’d expect long time Chinese customers like Pakistan, Egypt and possibly even Iran to be interested in this fighter.
although Pakistan hasn’t operated a twin engined fighter anytime and prefers single engined fighters due to their lower operating and maintenance costs, unless a heavily modified JF-17 appears in the next 10 years, they’re very likely to take a long hard look at the J-31.
On the contrary, i can see as POTENTIAL J-31 customers all those asian countries that currently operate MiG-29 (Myanmar, Bangladesh, hell, even North Korea), Pakistan (probably the most likely), i can see several latin -american countries , Peru, Venezuela , Brazil, Argentina and possibly others, i can see several ME countries like Egypt, Iran, Iraq, hell even the likes of Saudis, perhaps some african countries , like Algeria, Lybia and others further inland, and of course there’s always the chance for some rather unexpected customers!
Imo, for any country wishing to acquire 5th gen for prestige, diversification considerents and national defence considerents, there will be 3 aircraft available at the end of this decade: F-35 (you buy it , you sold your soul basically, ITAR, all that limitation , downgrade and political baggage, plus expensive), T-50 (fairly expensive or overshoot in some cases), and J-31 (China only wants your money or some of your oil, and it’s all yours). Not sure if J-20 will be offered for sale so i haven’t counted it. F-22, very fat chance indeed.
AMCA, KFX, TFX and FX-3 japanese won’t be available until the first or second part of the twenties.
Of course all the above is speculation as of now.
If that would happen, it will be an excellent PR stunt, especially considering all the attachees and military representatives from potential customer countries ( especially for J-31). They should do it.:)
Ah yes, how could i missed that. Perhaps drop tank testing coming soon ?:) (or maybe even missile firing?)
I give up …other than the re-written bort on the fins , i can’t notice anything else…
Good to see new pics coming out! ( just as i was moaning about “quietness” lol)
Does anyone know how things are progressing at LII ? There hasn’t been any news about T-50’s testing in months (i mean pictures on sites like RP). I think the last big thing that happened was 51 returning to flying …it seems terribly quiet again.
Congratulation to Shenyang and China for a huge milestone in Chinese Aerospace history. I for one, i hope that now after J-31’s first flight, it will not be too long until the “JH-7B” striker and the Chinese NG strategic bomber will take to the air too.
As for the J-31, first thought coming to my head is “baby-raptor”:D. If China and SAC plays their cards right, J-31 can be one of the most commercially succesful fighters of this century. Here’s to many, many F-35 contracts snatched!:diablo:
Expecting news and some good pictures of J-31 with great interest.:)
Well, that settles is then …probably they were working on 2002 ever since the rumour about it leaving to Yangliang.:)
May i ask our russian friends , what is S. Kuznetsov saying here about the visit to MIG, those damn translators drive me nuts, nothing makes sense… thank you.
It has both. It’s a russianized MKI. No other photos other than the 2 or 3 from the first flight so far.:)
It was probably hoped/intended it would work OK for spares commonality.
Makes you wonder what else they intended/hoped it will work OK…
