So that’s 48 total….looks like they are really going heavy on attack helos, when you consider the Mi-28 contracts and the recently increased Ka-052 orders.

mack8I remember the old tale about the iranians not being able to use AIM-54 after 1979, because firstly , sabotage , secondly the short life of the battery/ accumulators which were of a special design that cannot be replaced and /or very difficult to reproduce, or something like that.
How hard can it be to copy an accumulator though? What are the specifics of this AIM-54 accumulator that makes it so difficult to reproduce etc. :confused:

Snafu352, if you’re trying to portray me as having my beliefs driven by religious factors you are terribly , terribly wrong, trust me i loath every religion equally. (religion is one of THE main reasons, not the only one , but one of them, for so much suffering , death and injustice we see in this damn world today).
Second, you know damn well which Palestine i’m talking about, so please cut it.
Third, the fact that the indians were almost exterminated and all their land taken away last century by the “white folks” does not meen that we should be complacent or to use it as an argument to a pretty much similar course of event in Palestine today. This world is very different from the 19th century , and a similar outcome must not be allowed to happen.
As for the other examples (and others i can actually think of- see for instance SU) there is a time and a place for them to be discussed in detail.
Finally i will say again what i said before regarding the pro-israeli folks : Criticism is one of the things hardest to accept for a human being, unfortunately.
Now, sorta back on topic , does anyone know what shelf life would missiles like AIM-7E and AIM-54 the iranians have , and what will a refurbishment actually entitle to have them operational again once their shelf life expires? Can they even be dismantled to actually change the rocket fuel etc .?

The palestinians and peoples from Golan etc , want the occupier to leave their land, and with good reason. Who wouldn’t , in the same situation? Remember the soviet partizans, Tito’s partizans, french resistance, mujahedeen or for that matter iraqi insurgents ? It’s the same thing , same principle.
Nice try to pass on the responsability smack on the arab’s shoulders, but last i know it’s the israeli’s tanks, and guns , and checkpoints , and walls , and “colonies” in Palestine , not arab’s.
The israeli authorities just seem desperate to cling on to those lands regardless, for a purpose that is alien and difficult to comprehend to a civilized person ( greater Israel , or just plain religious fanaticism ,”Moses says so!”, i don’t know) Unfortunately for them, it’s this attitude of the israelis and some jewish ethnics aswell, their perceived total unwilingness for a peaceful and reasonable solution , that provokes wide resentiment, critique and outrage in the civilized world, and not that ” everyone who criticize Israel must deny the Holocaust/hate the jews, want to destroy Israel etc .etc.” as they keep saying.

Apart from this Fatter , another one seems to be an air to air modified HAWK (Sedjeel?). We all know the famous Tomcat pics with them, but how common is that?
Speaking of which , there seems to be recent pics of Tomcats with AIM-54 aswell!( including the recent escort for Russkiye Vityazy.) So either they found a way to prolong their shelf life , or copied them , or what ?

The americans claimed “not good enough!” and invaded them anyway.
I’ve read somewhere ( don’t know how true or not ) that the americans were absolutely “terrified” of the soviets reaching a peacful soluton during the 1991 pre-GW negotitaions, that would have prevented them from starting the war. Think i’ve read something to the effect of they hurriedly moved the date of the attack backwards (as in earlier) , or something like that.

I understand what you’re saying about the embargos, BUT strictly looking at aircraft, for instance i can’t see a damn trace of elementary survival elements on them like chaff and flare dispensers ( at least the american ones). How hard can it be to just copy ( not even design) a design from somewhere, China , Russia , anyhwere?
Also , it’s unclear what missiles they have now for their american aircraft , those AIM-7 and AIM-9 don’t last forever, are they . Think i read somewhere about a reverse-engineered AIM-9P called Fatter. That would be a start i guess.
I am of course familiar with the various clamis of various reverse engineered or improved systems ( their aircrafts , missiles and guided munitions for them , then things like HAWK , Rapier, Standard , those 8 gun AA mounts , or that crazy 100mm automatic AA gun etc etc.) but at the moment i’m still not convinced.
Just not nearly enough. Looking at those newly overhauled F-4s, the radars ( or at least the antennas) look exactly like the good old APQ-120, which in today’s environments, have the exact value of zero. Couldn’t hey find a chinese or russian system, anything to install or just copy?
With a proper leadership , surely they could have done much more, even under these circumstances.
