You sure you’re not confusing the old MiG-31BM with the new BM , Rii? Same designation , different kettle of fish.
Don’t think anyone with insight into russian aerospace ever mentioned about MiG-31BM having AG roles aswell.( although i’m sure it’s quite possible to add such capability if RuAF will ever want it )

Well , if bombs gonna a start raining on Iran ( or Syria) in the next few days, then you’ll have the answer. If there’s going to be a (new) war, probably it will be Iran, judging by the new heights of “Iran! They will have nukes, let’s bomb them, bomb-bomb bo-bomb!!!” media frenzy these days (not mentioning the foaming warmongers from various governments, especially US, israeli etc etc .)

But lets hope it’s just a normal Olympics drill or something like that. 🙂

PS : on the other hand this topic has nothing to do with Modern Aviation, is it ? Maybe the mods would wish to move it to the General section. Probably will be more fitting for the direction the discussion is taking anyway imho.

Isn’t the RBE-2AA either to be delivered or become operational this years on new FAF Rafales? So imo it’s not really “added”. Rather they offered the latest spec aircraft. India don’t have to pay for it to be integrated (unlike Captor-E or F414EPE). My 2 cents.

So they ordered 36 Yak-130 …how long it will take before they will be manufactured, pilots trained on them and delivered? 3-4 years at minimum ? So yeah , cya in 2015 about this “omg russianz sell planes to Assad for murdering civillians and only civillians children homeless omg omg those evil russkies there’s only one solution we need NATO to bomb Syria bomb Syria and bring freedom bomb it to the stone age so they will be free to do what we want !!!! “

Thanks. I do not know why here was not present additional hardpoints. But this lot of Su-27SM3 can be equipped with them. At will at any moment. IMHO.:)

Thanks, i apreciate your clarification Foxbat.:)

Well if they say they will invite bidders excluded from the present “final”, if for some reason they won’t actually order more Rafales, imo a logical choice would be MiG-35 (oh shut up you :p)

If Rafale was chosen among other reasons (apart from cost and performance) for also having a degree of commonality regarding some important avionics , maintenanace architecture and weaponry with the Mirage , then if they will go by the same logic here …MiG-35. ( very close in airframe and /or avionics with MiG-29K and UPG, decades long of maintenace and experience on it, weaponry etc etc)

Wasn’t insuficient power one of the reason the MiG was disqualified ? Well the MKM engine offer an extra 500kgf, that must be very helpful. Plus , there’s more time for the avionics and systems to be matured now. ( and maybe new stuff added on too)

The Gripen seems to be dismissed because it bassically duplicates Tejas Mk1/2. One small chance would be for SH , but i guess the only “common” feature will be the F-414 engine. Besides it remain to be seen if IAF want to have an aircraft that they can’t dismantle and repair this or that, spares and suport depending on Washington’s mood ( LCA anyone ?) , or even the infamous “bugs” ( bugs on a Bug lol) that will basically reduce the aircraft to an airfield decoy, if India need to use it’s AF for a national objective that is not on Khan’s liking.

Well it would be wonderful news for Rafale’s future, but seeing how this MMRCA went for years now , it would be wise to have it double and triple confirmed, from oficial sources. Give it a day or so.;)

If it is indeed 100% true then congratulations Dassault.:)

    Very nice. 😉

Looking at that SM3 loaded “wall to wall”, should it be understood that they don’t have 12 hardpoints, but still the usual 10 as in the “normal” Su-27P/S?

( not that 10 AAMs is not enough :))

More photos of the black ducks and other stuff @ Lipetsk.

The grey “hellducks” really look stunning in those inflight pics.

Finally , something useful from raptor2019.:D If you look under that J-6, it looks like it has a hardpoint added (probably one on each side)! I don’t remember seeing such a feature on the “normal ” J-6s (or MiG-19 for that matter) .

Now does anyone know which documentary is that screenshot coming from ?
