I’d be surprised if any of the main cast members are alive today – but someone out there may know better!
Oh, and another thought vis a vis “……stiff upper lipped Englishman” – wasn’t John Gregson’s character supposed to be from Scotland?
“Septic……answering……” Yes he was a Scot.
What a treasure trove of photographs, nice find!
It could have been a whole lot worse though.
‘Miss Helen’ has overcome setbacks in the past, I look forward to seeing her flying again.
Don’t worry – the typesetter will be beaten to within an inch of his sorry life! I’ll see if I can get him to change it!
Any new’s on the fate of the typesetter?
Sure, once you empty it….and pay to build a bigger one. It’s a bit too crouded for photos
And during the emptying phase, spirit the Hog to its rightful home over at Bentwaters for the Bentwaters Cold War Museum:)
Photoshop looks likely, but if it was taken at Fairford on departures day, the pilots do tend to try and ‘upstage’ each other with low departures.
If it was ‘POD’ at the controls, I can’t really imagine a pilot with a test pilot background doing that……would he?
Anyone got a vid/pics of the Harrier/Sopwith Camel formation at Biggin?, all I remember was that the Harrier was a GR5 with BAe pilot Heinz Frick at the controls.
Twas a great shame, but the cancellation made sense given the jets VFR operations………roll on Duxford October 5th, a show that on paper looks more promising than the Sept show.
Probably is/was, when I’m on a decent connection, I’ll have a look.
Can’t recall where I did see Ray lead the Red’s in MH434, may have been Fairford.
I’m on a snail connection so haven’t viewed the vid to i.d the Spit, but I’m guessing it was the greatest peacetime Spitfire pilot of them all, Ray Hanna at the controls.
I’m sure I recall him ‘leading’ the Red’s again, albeit in the Spit.
The airfield operators took all appropriate steps to make sure the airfield was ready for operations, luckily the Hawk was first up to kick off the show while below, the runways were checked.
The show ran pretty well, after the 1330 deluge, its a wonder anything flew that day.
Incidently, full marks to ‘Flapjack’ for his slow speed pass and wave with the canopy slid back…….in a Hunter:eek:
Thanks for that Denis,I flew in before and only really noticed ‘Area51’.
Where is Hangar 11 in relation to say ‘The Squadron’ at North Weald?…..I dropped in there a couple of months back and was hoping to find the hangar.
I wouldnt blame the hangar if it did leak during today’s biblical 20 minute downpour at half one, I was admiring the Phantom and listening in awe to the torrent of rain on the roof.
Not a bad idea to freshen things up, it gets cliquey with half a dozen posters on 10000+ posts
