HELLO,
Is this the “Georgia, Abkhazia, S. Ossetia” thread?
All I see is discussions about SAMs, ABMs, Hummers etc.
I must be lost….
Not only the Hinds and Hips, but also the USA supplied UH-1 helicopters. No word of them either.
So little is being transpired from both sides.
Please take your off-topic comments and urination contests into some other more appropriate thread.
Back to topic.
Freshly released photos of a Russian Su-25 hit by a Georgian SAM. The pilot brought this tough bird back to base and landed safely.

Tough bird (and tough pilot) indeed.

Captured weapons by the Abkhazian forces. Includes BUK missiles.
Regarding the latest Georgia-Russia hazzle, there were reports of some sort of naval activity happening in the black sea.
The reports are quite blur and confusing. most of them descripes that Georgian FACs were attacking russian ships and the Slava class pr. 1164 cruiser Moskva was hit by the georgian boats. Some sort of fire broke free in the Moskva but was tamed and after russians returned to the fire, one or two Georgian FACs were sunk.
Some reports said it being pr. 205 class missile FAC, which is the Osa class which Georgia shouldn’t not posses. It does however have at least one pr. 206MR Matka class missile hydrofoil. However I found a link to some russian language forum which shows images of the Matka class boat burning in Poti harbour…so the boats in question could have been pr. 14000 class patrolcrafts which one is named P-205…

So if anyone have more clearer version of the happenngs, I would be greatly appriciated.
PS. I posted this here to avoid it being lost in the mist of the political mambojambo in the main georgian-russian conflict thread.

The Moskva near Novorossisk on 17 August 2008. No apparent damage.
High resolution photos taken on same day. Again no apparent damage.

The Georgian pr.205 (Stenka) class boat sunk at sea was the Georgy Toreli (P-21) here is an older photo:

The Russian ship that sank the Toreli was the Nanushka class corvette with P-120 Malakhit (SS-N-9) missiles.
I saw that on local TV just now. They also aired a statement from both Medvedev and Sucky-villi, the latter being shot even when he thought that camera was offline, he was really nerveous, talking on the cellphone and biting his tie. It only lasted a couple of seconds and i haven’t reacted fast enough to un-mute my TV, so i couldn’t figure what was it about. Anyone seen that?
Here it is for your enjoyment:

Yeah you’re right, I got the two confused. Vehicle maintenance of such a common piece of equipment (the MAZ-543) shouldn’t be a problem, though. New S-300PMU-2 and S-400 systems do use a Russian-made chassis now though.

Not exactly.
The S-400 TELAR vehicles are made bu http://www.BZKT.ru in Russian
The radar vehicles are made by http://www.MZKT.by in Belarus
Yes and no. The chassis for the mobile variants are made in the Ukraine, so they can handle those. The Russian-made (Fakel) missiles are sealed rounds that do not require maintenance over extended periods, so the only issue there would be if and when they need their 10 year maintenance or need to be refurbished. Ukraine could probably handle that as well. The only issue they could have is a lack of maintenance support for the radar systems themselves. But, proper planning, as in keeping some systems in stored reserve, can alleviate some of that.
Is the Ukraine part of the whole joint CIS air defence organization?
I believe the chassis of the S-300 is made in Belarus by http://www.mzkt.by

There is a short TV Advertisement before the video clip. Sorry.
I believe Yushenko will end up in a deeper pile of excrement than Saakashvili.
And no, Russian troops will not be going in. He will be overthrown by his own people.
The majority of the Ukrainian population is not for entering NATO, yet he is pushing his NATO agenda harder and harder….
We will see.
There is always that one soldier… 😀
Seriously tough. it is not pink. It is a PKM machine gun. I have seen some of them with somewhat bright almost reddish color stock. The sunlight made it look….pinkish

These have been seized from the Georgian base at Senaki.

And this US made M-4 rifle was captured in Tsinkhvali.
Another video about war tropies (captured Georgian military equipment) became available:
