Hello Nigel,
I knew you would have the answers!
Just too completely clarify things for me. If you parked an S2C and an S2B next to each other, would the only external difference be the bulged bomb bay door or are there any other lumps, bumps bulges or aerials etc? (Assuming no weaponry is loaded of course).
Also if there were modified and new build airframes which category does XX894 fit into?
I’ll look forward to meeting up with you again and cheers for the offer of some reading material!
All the best, Plazz
I wasn’t sure whether I could directly advertise stuff on this forum so without putting a price tag on things, this is what’s on offer:
Cannon EOS500N 35mm Camera.
Sigma AF 24mm Wide Angle Lens.
Cannon AF 28-80 Zoom Lens.
Cannon AF 75-300mm Zoom Lens.
Cannon Remote Shutter Release.
Velbon CX Mini Tripod.
4 CR123A Batteries (2 Part used, 2 Brand New).
All boxes and manuals included.
I would prefer it to all to go as a job lot rather than be stuck with one or two items, but I am a reasonable man and might be persuaded otherwise for a good deal.
I can email anyone interested better quality photos as I’m restricted on here by the 100kb limit.

Ok, I finally think it’s fixed. I have Norton Firewall on my main machine and rely on Windows Firewall for my second machine. I checked these settings tonight after reading some thing on a post about vulnerabilities if the Firewall is not switched on and it wasn’t. I switched it on for both Internet and Networking and I’ve been online for over an hour! Fingers crossed that this was the problem. I have updated all the latest patches and fixes from the Windows Update site as well. I’m still a bit cautious about re-installing SP2 though, so I’m leaving it uninstalled for now.
Thanks everyone for all your ideas and suggestions, you’ve been a big help :).

Just Spent the morning re-running Virus scans on both machines in safe mode. Out come still the same, aaaaaaarrrggggggghhhhhh

Hi All,
Thanks for the replies and assistance but unfortunately I’m am still having the same problem. I have Norton Anti-Virus 2004 installed and updated, I scanned my system and it came back ‘no Viruses found’. Just to be on the safe side I downloaded both the MS Blast and Sasser fix tools from Symantec, run them and you can see the results for yourselves in the pictures below. I did until recently have service pack 2 installed on my main machine, but every time I booted up it would ask for Activation and I would go online and comply. However, for 30 odd days I did this only eventually to have my PC stop working until the software was activated. Being both OEM versions of Windows XP, I am not entitled to support from Microsoft. So the big Format C: back to SP1 was the order of the day! It’s my second machine that has the problem though. They are networked together and both have 56k modems (I cant get broadband until June 2005). If I connect to the Internet through my first machine the second can connect to the Internet through it (All works fine). If I connect direct to the Internet through the second machine 20 seconds later the shutdown dialogue box appears. The thing is that I don’t always have both machines switched on and I use either to get on the net, well I used to!
If you have anymore Ideas or need any more info please let me know I am very grateful for all the help so far.
Thanks, Plazz
I think I may have posted these photos before but it would have been just after my last visit to see XL391 back in February 2002. The aircraft was in a really bad state back then so I can only assume it has deteriorated a lot more since then. I don’t think there is anything worth salvaging for use on other Vulcan’s. This is a very fine example of how aircraft preservation should not be done and all involved ought to hang their heads in shame. I love all things in aviation but even I think its about time 391 was finally put out of her misery. A sad end to a beautiful piece of engineering. 😡

Interesting photo’s thanks for posting them. So it would seem that this aircraft might well face the inevitable 😡 . It would be a real shame as this is the last remaining of its type. Let’s hope someone, somewhere sees sense and rescues her before she’s really beyond preservation.
Anyone know how accessible to the general public the aircraft is? It would be nice to go and have a good close look just to get an idea of the level of corrosion in existence.

Shame I couldn’t make Sunday but had an excellent time on Saturday. A big thanks to Buccsociety and Co. for a memorable day.
Hears my view of some Buccaneer based events on Saturday.

Cosford’s TSR2, just to see for myself what it really could do.
Hendon’s Halifax and Wellington, wouldn’t it be great to see either one of those fly? also Hendon’s Valiant just because I’ve seen the Vulcan and Victor fly but never a Valiant.
Plazz
I think this buccaneer may be S.1 XK491 as this aircraft was a foulness in 1974 but the nose section moved to Brough which coincidentally is were Gnat T.1 XM696 was used for wind tunnel experiments. Both these aircraft were cleared from the airfield by February 1976 and the Gnat ended up at the scrap yard in Halifax with an unidentified Buccaneer nose, if you do the math….
Hope this helps. Plazz
adwwebber,
The Tornado Prototype P.02 XX946 moved from Hendon to Cosford on the 3rd of March 2003. And the Tornado in my original post is GR1 ZA319 at Bicester. Sorry for any confusion caused.
