I too have a son, and he does quite a lot for me, to help me out, he is like that, are you to your father?.

You obviously have taken my post as a personal criticism, when it isn’t.

I’m merely pointing out that people who have to use disability scooters are disadvantaged enough already, without being forced into mainstream traffic.

As for saying that you wouldn’t use one yourself,I rather think you might see it differently if a mobility scooter was a means of keeping you out of a care home.

Your remark that I’ve quoted is both rude and unnecessary, but to answer it,I’m an only child and for many years I’ve done as much as I could for both my parents, thank you.
I’ve coped with my Mum being slowly crippled by a neurological disease for over forty years. In fact during the past year I’ve had to deal with prolonged periods in hospital for both parents, the emotional burden on both of them of Mum being admitted to a nursing home and Dad being left living alone, and Mum’s decline into severe dementia.

In other words, don’t take that tone with me.

the mobility scooters are lethal, having been hit by one, and causing a lot of damage to my car I think they should be confined to the road.
In the recent case of those, (Cannot remember their name) but you stand on them upright and hold onto what I would call handle bars, have been classed as motor vehicles and banned from the footpaths, then surly the mobility scooters fall into the same catagory.

    Are you serious ?

My Dad is 87,very frail and only able to stand up for a few minutes.

If it weren’t for the invention of the mobility scooter, which enables him to get out to the shops and to the bank and so on,he’d have had to go into a home years ago.As it is,he’s able to keep his independence, which is very precious to him.I’ve seen him using his scooter, and he’s as careful on the pavements as he ever was in his 53 years as a driver.

You honestly think my Dad should be bumbling along in the road, alongside heavy lorries, double decker buses and the amount of traffic there is in our town centre ? Then I just hope you never get to the stage of needing one yourself.

Those things that you stand on upright and hold on to what you would call handlebars are called Segways, and are generally used by people who haven’t yet been stupid enough to get old or disabled.

Does the law say you have to use the track?

It appears not. This may be of interest :

Is there a full moon today ?

I don’t know what it is about blokes and things with wheels, but as soon as the subject’s raised loads of you want to pile in.

Mr. Bee’s the same. I showed him an article in my pensioners’ magazine about vintage upholstery designs from London Transport, ( zzzzzzzzz ),and he was in raptures.

As neither a driver or a cyclist,I feel fully qualified to comment :diablo:

Too much butter is never good for you.

    Moggy

Eeeeuw ! That film must have made an impression, because I know what thar means, even though it was – what ? 1974 ?

We were on holiday in Plymouth, and Mr. Bee insisted on seeing it. I distinctly remember we had a Chinese takeaway afterwards, but he made me eat it with a plastic fork in the car because he didn’t think the landlady at the B and B we were staying in would appreciate the smell of the curry he had.

I’m sorry she’s gone. Nobody should die as young as 58.

If there’s room for something that’s puzzled me,can anyone explain this ?

When my Dad was in hospital last year,he was in a ward with seven other old boys.

They all had broken bones, and sometimes a portable X-ray machine was brought into the ward to use on one of them.

Every time it was,all visitors were immediately ushered out of the ward, ” because it’s dangerous to be near the machine when it’s on “.
But all the old boys stayed put, exactly where they were.

Can anyone make any sense of this ?
