The slaughter of men in the Great War meant that an estimated two million women were unable to marry and have children,so all those potential lives that might have been beneficial to humanity were wasted.
As for the Baby Boomers, speaking as one myself my parents would never have met if they hadn’t been in the RAF/WAAF,so I wouldn’t be here to fritter away my twilight years on my computer.

My daughter’s friend she’s known since they started school together seventeen years ago is on the brink of death from anorexia, weighing four and a half stone.
A dear friend of forty years, who already has prostate cancer and has had a cancerous kidney removed, has just been told that the cancer’s now in his spine and faces a massive dose of radiotherapy. His wife has dementia and doesn’t always know him.
My own Mum’s dementia is progressing so she thinks my Dad’s left her after sixty-four years of marriage.
    I’m tired.

Leaning on the railing of Brighton pier yesterday, eating doughnuts with my daughter on her birthday.
A seagull flew right between us and pinched my doughnut.Actually made me laugh for the first time in what seems like forever.
Then we bought each other an appropriate present –

    Absolutely none, I’m a man!

I’d expected more replies like that.
I have never in 62 years seen my Dad cry,not even at funerals or the death of beloved pets.I don’t know how ( or why ) he does it.
Personally I never watch animal films because I’d be blubbing all the way through. What gets me reaching for the tissues is the scene in Mama Mia where Meryl Streep sings Slipping through my fingers as she helps her daughter get ready on her wedding day.
Oh,and the bit where Aragorn bows to the Hobbits.

If Australia allows ashes in I’m going on a beach just North of Cairns, between the rainforest and the Coral Sea.
It’s called Yorkey’s Knob.I don’t know the origin of the name, but I reckon I’d like to have met Yorkey.

No resits ? There should still be a chance.

I have untill Wednesday to get my assignment resit in. Its not looking good. Anybody know how predict passenger figures up to three years in advance ? No me neither 🙁

She can re-take the module she failed, but however well she does with it the mark’s capped at a certain level that means she won’t get a good grade degree.
So much easier in my day.Pub shut at 10.30,stagger back to halls, black coffee and work all night.
    Good luck with yours.
