This is a terrible tragedy and my sympathies lie with all those affected.

Paul … I’m one of those 3/4 … I tend to browse before bothering to log in and comment. 99% of the time I do not log in and comment as I feel no compunction to contribute to the endless to and fro debates so popular on this (and many other) forums.

Don, well said. There are some on here who just keep on and on and on! Step away from the keyboard…

I think the light grey you refer to is exhaust staining.

‘surely though they liaise with the mod about restrictions and would ask for a less aggressive display under the circumstances’

The Mod is responsible for the safety of its aircraft and aircrew.

I think you’ll find the safety of the aircrew and the aircraft in the military is “the duty holder”. In the RAF, that can be as low as OC Eng,up to through Staish, Group, MoD, Defence Secretary and ultimately PM.

Firstly the use of the word stunt should have been corrected and secondly quite obviously questions will be asked and ultimately answers given, but an interview on the radio two days after the accident is neither the time nor the place.

With reference to the word “stunt” Charlie, it is highly appropriate in these circumstances. According to my copy of the Oxford English Dictionary. I appreciate the press attempt to whip up a frenzy, as it helps sell their product.

It has been dragging on a bit! I remember it in its own glasshouse over the road. I think it’s been lost in translation as “The Potteries” is the colloquialism for Stoke on Trent and the museum contains all things relevant to the area of Staffordshire. As RJ was an inmate of Staffs, the Spit (albeit a Mk XVI) is right at home.

I totally agree with Mk12, it needs paint!!!!

XH648 is a B1A (K2P). It still had a bombing capability, should you want to drop another 35 1,000 pounders………..

That is an impressive war load! I had no idea they were so capacious.

I think that may be our very own Mark 12…

Whilst we’re on the subject, do The Fighter Collection still have their Lavochkin/LaGG?

    Hello Nad,

What’s the latest in the Gannet please? Do you have any footage of the wing fold operation?

    Apparently this is happening today.

Didn’t realise the Tempest had an inline engine. Always thought it had a radial.
Presumably enough Napier Sabre engines survive to make a few complete ones?

“Inline” is a bit of a misnomer. Imagine a horizontally opposed 12 cylinder engine, then another the same on top of it. It’s a beast!

Waste of time, could be. Waste of money? Well, it is very expensive when you compare to the many free botanical gardens in the UK

Yes wings, I agree it’s very expensive for what it is! You can see some plants (interesting if you like that kind of thing), see some junk recycled to look like a ‘robot’, a big acorn made of stone and covered in oil from people touching it, and lots of dusty toy animals in the cafe area. I will never go back!

Davidstow was interesting, and I’d make an effort to get to St Mawgan. I looked at the Shack the last time I went there.

Excellent workmanship. I love this kind of thing. I couldn’t find prices.
