Thank you both. It would have bugged me till I remembered it.
Amazing story. Wishing them all the very best. They deserve it. Made me think of the David Niven film. Cant remember the title at the moment. Thanks for posting.
Yes brilliant story First class Video. Very well researched and produced, watched it many times. It has been on here a few times but its a good idea to mention it again for the benefit of new members and anyone that’s missed it.
Could be a flange from an SU Fitted to a car engine, certainly not Merlin V12, its to small. The part on the left looks to be Lancaster break shoe pad.
Packard USA produced Merlin engines under licence from Rolls Royce to increase production quantity, hence the Bendix Aviation Stromberg carburettor. As to its monetary value. Well what ever anyone would be prepared to pay for it. Is there any known history with it?
Could be from a Packard Merlin. RR Used SU Carbs.
More RFC WW1 Vintage. Just found this on Zenith.
Can you post some photos of it please?
That’s great news. Though I bet a short run. The trip to New York = One ton of fuel per passenger.
Me to Adrian. Always on the look out for V1. V2’s and UXB Stories. Great story about the tree Andy. Well done and thanks for sharing. Anymore UXB Stories pics etc.?:D
Nuf said here. Time to put this thread to bed don’t you. I mean its Boring. Yeah sure I know don’t read it then, I wont. But all its doing is scaring potential new members away. :stupid:
What about that picture quality! WOW! Best I have ever seen on my monitor anyway. Thought first it was an animated simulation. Don’t know about HD More like 3D Quality. I could almost touch the aircraft on screen. Fantastic Well Done! :eagerness:
I suppose one of the difficult things with a forum such as this is that you never really know how your posts come across; I’ve gone back to posts that I’ve written weeks before, in the heat of an argument, and been really surprised, even shocked, at what I’ve written, or rather how it sounded.
Yeah same here. Worst is when you hit the send or post button and its like a shock wave hits you. Oh Heck! Wish I hadn’t said that now. Its amazing how a written sentence and a spoken one can easily be interpreted in two completely different ways.
Oh! Another thing Do not post after a couple of beers.:very_drunk: NOT RECOMMENDED. Specially if you feel fired up about something.:rolleyes:
The little yellow car at the end is a Ford 100E, Estate, I had one as my first car !
Yes me too. Side valve, 2 bearing crank, with 3 speed gearbox. And vacuum driven windshield wipers. Next car was a Ford prefect. Around 1965. Petrol just under 25p per gallon.
Well put and with a hands on approach 🙂
Thank you Trumper. Listen Guys. The youngsters also will monitor this forum and will easily be frightened off by replies being to technically over the top, or ranting off with politics (Not necessary), on a topic, which I have noticed on some posts. Who knows this forum could well I hope contribute to the next generation of our enthusiasts of aviation heritage.
