That narrator knows a thing or two. I didn’t know that the Canberra was powered by petrol. Would that be 100 octane?
Yes I thought that, made it all the more entertaining, mind you it is made for general Jo Public who think aeroplanes run on petrol not diesel or paraffin. All that petrol could blow the whole shebang sky high! WOW! Nail biting stuff though. LOL!
Be great if we could add a couple of VC10’s retiring today as well.
Like so many, a must read, another great story.
There is a paper back book on KG200 Pan Books. Written by J D GILMAN & JOHN CLIVE. The phantom arm of Hitler’s Luftwaffe. They flew the Flying Fortress. They wore American uniforms. But they were Germans. Quoted from the book cover.
I still always wonder how the conscientious objectors felt when they saw the first film from the death camps.
I think most people would have been in shock and disbelief. How could one human being do that to another human being. But it still goes on in some places even today in the so called now civilized world.
Sadly it takes War to bring people together, we forget our petty differences and pull together as per the quote.
Makes me think though these days going back to the 1970’s when there was a sugar shortage some people in the super market rather than just take one bag tried to clear the shelf for themselves. Pure and utter selfishness though thankfully the shop didn’t let them get away with it. Turn out a bit of an embarrassing situation for the customer.
I still think its fantastic how with shear determination people came and worked together to defended this small island against an evil tyrant.
Fantastic! Well Done. Though I think your Gonna need a bigger car park for taxing. 😀
WOW! Amazing condition. Try right click and translate for the article.

Brilliant! Is that what happened to the car in the video (above), despite the parachute opening?
Unlike Commercial Air accident investigations. The MOD Don’t usually publish their findings to the media. In my own opinion this was a tragic accident created by a mishap, possibly failure to disarm the ejection seat before and after flight operation’s. Usually by the insertion of the disarming pins after use which prevents the operation of the ejection seat handles.
Flew back to RAF Lyneham from Wildenrath Germany in one of these. 1970. Had if I remember 6 Landover’s on board, had to remove the batteries, captain refused to take off with them on board had to leave behind. Meant me hanging upside down through the roof of the vehicle to take the batteries out. Delayed us about an hour. Customs held aircraft at Lyneham. Pilot desperate to return to Germany. Don’t know how long the hold up was.
Are there more of these “Dig” shows available since these three episodes only cover Ireland?
There have been similar in the past will post a heads up as and when they become available. Don’t forget Youtube have some dig site videos.
Me Neither.
German VDM Propeller’s usually have worm drives in the hub for the variable pitch operation.
And a steel blade? Never heard of that. Would be interesting if anyone here can explain that one.
