Thanks Daz,
Regarding the ‘Civilschmitt’ kit, I picked one up on ebay a few weeks ago, so keep looking they are still about.

Thanks everyone.
Found this shot just for you Peter.
Hopefully 982 will remain in ground running condition for the foreseeable future, its just a shame it can’t be hangared. What does the museum have in store for its continued preservation.

I can’t wait to see (G-AIST) AR213 at Old Warden, very apropriate too, given that it spent many years there in storage whilst owned by Allan Wheeler, I guess that AR213 displayed at OW in the early seventies after its use in the Battle of Britain film, but I’ve never seen any photos from this period.

Hi Lancman,
Did Bill and the team finally manage to find a replacement Orpheus of the correct Mk. in the end. As I tried along with others to point Bill in the direction of the few appropriately engined early Gnats that were still in existence.
And thanks for a great update.
Note to self. Must finally get round to building that resin kit I have of K7 in the loft.

Ken Wallis had a nice little TV spot last week on ‘Suggs survivors’, Ken was too quick for the Madness front man and his film crew.:D

Sorry Daz, “Der Stern von Afrika” featured Hispano Suiza engined Hispano’s, only the Merlin engined variant was called a Buchon.

Well volunteered PPhixer.:)
Do you know what sort of numbers would be needed.

There is always the option of organising a special screening of the film, whether it be at somewhere like Duxford or a local cinema. It might be easier away from DX as I’m sure it would incur considerable costs and a stack of terms and conditions.

A few years ago I picked up David Brown’s excellent book on the Seafire, it might be worth doing a quick search on Amazon if your interested in this specific type.

Hi Rob,
I started with the cheapest SLR money could buy in the pre digital days, what I would suggest, is to go out with and buy a secondhand DSLR and learn the basics, get a decent hand book, (I used Micheal Langfords 35mm handbook) but there many more suited to DSLR use now and practise.
You should be able to pick up a first or second generation 6 mega pixel DSLR body for £200 -£300, and a reasonable zoom lens for similar money, have a look on ebay.
Lastly buy a Nikon, slightly dearer but better build quality!
