Hi Chris,
I’ve just found a couple of shots of G-Fire that were taken at Duxford in 1988, I’m also pretty sure that I have some G-HUNT shots around somewhere too. I was so inspired by the livery chosen by Spencer that I even built a 1:48 scale model of G-FURY.

A couple of shots of FIFI during happier times performing at Airsho 2001.

Just found these two old photos that I took of G-BRAF, the aircraft was about to have its first flight from the bump (Biggin Hill). And yes that is Doug in the second photo, I think the pilot was Chris Bevan.

Thanks Steve,
I watched that clip with mixed emotions, but many thanks for capturing and sharing the footage of RR299 in action.

Martin,
I have lived in and around Croydon all of my life and totally agree that the pub should be saved, its just a shame is wasn’t situated a little further up the road near to the terminal building. Regarding the campaign to save the building; Have you tried contacting the Croydon airport Society as they used to hold their meetings in the pub, I went to a few with Mr Tweed (JDK) and can well remember the lovelly wood paneling in the saloon bar.
These arson attacks seem to conveniently go hand in hand with proposed building developments, locally the old tower in Queens rd was torched as was the former Cane Hill hospital, lets not let the propellor goes the same way as Brighton’s West Peir. 🙁
Talking of pubs, has anyone been to the White Hart at Brasted recently, the original bar that was frequented by many famous Biggin Hill pilots has now been totally ripped out. The pubs link with its heroic past lost forever.

N109ME was sponsored by Dan Lawson and Brent ‘Doc’ Hisey, hence its overhaul and restoration to flying status. Both Dan and Doc had hoped to fly the 109, given the necessary training. From what I’ve just heard there was a difference of opinon on this training, hence the Buchon being back at Midland and up for sale.
Lets hope someone from the UK, shows an interest in the acquiring this former Battle of Britain film aircraft.

Daz, the photo on the Barnstormers website certainly looks like N109ME but if I remember rightly the CAF also had a non flyer.

[QUOTE=Robert Whitton]The prices seem a bit high!!!!
I costed out a similar project for a run of replica Bf109’s a few years ago and 20K is a very realistic price when you start considering the time and materials invloved. The 109 replica project will hopefully happen in the future but for now the completion of the pattern 109 replica is the main priority.

Cloud Nine,
You say that your family has ruled out spending on a DSLR, have you considered buying secondhand. There are a lot of first generation DSLR bodies coming on to the market now, 6 Mega pixel Canon 10D, Nikon D100 and alike. For airshows a decent lens on a DSLR is IMHO the only way to go, static aircraft within museums is a different matter.

Papa Lima, another shot of the odd nose, perhaps one of our Bucc experts can tell us more.

For those of you who have a spare 1/72 Spitfire IX/ XVI model kit in the loft, there is already a set of markings to depict TB863 in its 1950 Luftwaffe scheme.

If there had to be a location attached to Paul’s superb picture I’m afraid it could only be in the skies over the UK.
Only one Spitfire went to Spain, G-AVDJ and as far as I know when Spitfire Productions went chasing better weather in France, no Hurricane’s or either of the two Casa 2111 made the trip.
