As JDK said I do have a photo of it, I have a look for it later and post it.

Finally found the photos TJ, these are shots that I picked up years ago.
Sorry about the poor quality but I can assure you the originals are no better.

Whilst of Vimys
I must say it’s about time the original aircraft was pulled out of it’s coffin in Adelaide and given a proper sympathetic restoration/conservation. I believe a fair bit of it was replaced after some sort of fire in the 1950’s and it looks a bit sad now so it would be nice to see such a significant aircraft repaired and put on display somewhere more suitable.

Any chance of a photo John.
The Alcock and Brown Vimy is probally in a very siimliar condition, but the lighting in the Science museum is so poor its hard to tell.
Heres a couple of pics of the RAFM replica and the priceless A & B Vimy at South Ken.
Septic.
Keep it flying, although the replica has performed a triple crown of incredible flights, its long term place in front of the public will only be ensured if its flown on a regular basis.
Just remember Jean Batten and her beloved Gull Six, G-APDR was superbly restored by Hunting Aviation and operated by the Shuttleworth Collection. Sold and subsequently displayed strung up like an ‘Airfix’ kit at Aucklland International airport.

More like build a new hangar.

SteveG,
Where do they hope to finally preserve the Vimy?
Steve I would like to thank all the staff and volunteers at Brooklands today, an absolutely superb day out, which even included a spirited run around the old banking in a rather quick Aston Martin, although not as quick as the awesome Railton.
Bleriot and Dep replicas were allowed out to soak up the sun.

PS Burgers were great too.
Well done Melv, and thanks for the great report.

Thanks for those septic, not sure thats the same Blackburn Mono! as far as i know the Fambards reps never had BAPC numbers allocated to them?
Check out Wrecks and relics, all the former Flambards replicas eventually were allocated a BAPC number as I believe the aero park was a member of the BAPC.

Whilst looking through the RIAT CDR I found these BE 2 shots that may be of interest.

Take a look at these Blue Max.

The Blackburn Monoplane (BAPC 130) was with the Yorshire Air Museum at Elvington. Wasn’t it part of the 100 years of flight at Fairford.

Michael Horton, actor and later the narrator of the Paddington Bear series was in the FAA, Swordfish I seem to recall.

Just for you Mike, a few more of the Civilian Coupe and Travel Air.
The Coupe would feel extremely welcome at OW, just the right mix of pram wheels and struts! (PS.It is the sole survivor of the type too)
Do you know where the Travel Air is based.

Unfortunately the OFMC duo suffered from particulary cloudy conditions, whilst the poor old Aces High Dak had to display in terrible cloud and rain.
Digital can be very flattering at times, in the old days of shooting film I would have put the camera away and gone home.

Glad you liked them Anna,
Its a shame Kenley never managed to attract a warbird. Unfortunately events without a Warbird in attendence never appear to generate much interest with enthusiasts these days.

My own thoughts on the display are somewhat mixed;
Plus points.
On the one hand it was great to see some powered flight return to both the tarmac and grass runways of historic Kenley. (Please note I’m not counting powered gliders.)
The event raised the profile of the airfield locally, which can only be a good thing given the number of new residents the area now has.
On the down side.
I felt there were several missed opportunitys.
A major reunion for ex Kenley pilots and ground crew could have been arranged, this could have raised extra funds through signings etc.
Given the historic nature of the location a vintage aircraft fly-in could have been organised.
I know i’ve said this before but a private Spitfire or Hurricane should have been booked. I know the Solent Sky replica Spitfire was there but its not quite the same thing.) I know the BBMF were weathered out but a Spit or Hurricane back on Kenley would have made all the major aviation publications.
Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed the day at Kenley, but I have been going up to Kenley since I was about six years old and i feel passionately that it should be preserved.
