Thanks animx,
What were your impressions of the event. Do you think we will see another.

Duxford aircraft are too expensive for a free air show – as the budget doesn’t stretch that far. Obviously you could spend ££££s getting all the best aircraft – but then the BBMF always steal the show. 😎
There is a website – but it is so well hidden no one can find it ! :diablo:
Animx,
I know spending thousands of pounds on Warbirds would never be an option, but given the historical significance of Kenley Aerodrome and the fund raising nature of the event, I’m sure certain warbird owners would have been interested in supporting the event.
I can well remember the late Martin Sargent displaying the PR XI over the airfield at a similar event.
If the event is a fund raiser for the tribute, why is it free, surely it would have been better to charge admission, the word free will obviouslly attract quite a large crowd, but how many of them will actually donate to the tribute fund.
The website, must be elusive even Google can’t find it, any chance of a link.

Animx,
Is there a Kenley preservation group or society inolved with the display, if there is how do you join.
Do you know if there will be any heavier types will be operating off the grass, assuming the tarmac is too patchy.
Do you know why the publicity has been kept low key.
Lastly I’ve attached a photo of a former Kenley aeroplane, Peter & Polly Vacher’s Hurricane 1.

One for you Fluffy,
Henlow 3/June 68, the post Jeff Hawke era.

Great shots Strinbag, its good to see that the Warbirds were booked from a host of operators.
Did the OFMC Spit/P51 duo display to music, as that’s what OFMC were trying to promote early in the season.

It is open to the public Geoff, as there are two massive banners promoting the event as well as numerous posters around Kenley, Whyteleafe and Caterham.

Only two weeks to go and still no news locally about the Kenley Salute.
Incidentally the future of the former officers mess was hopefully decided last week, thankfully the buildings are listed. This shot showing the exterior of the officers mess was taken whilst filming Angels One Five in 1951. Follow the link for a current shot.

Thanks Blue Max/ G-ORDY.
All shots of early Old Warden welcome.
