Dave,
Someone I know has some 8mm footage of the aircraft flying at Shoreham airshow 196? There must be others out there who took slides /photos of the aircraft at the show, hopefully something will turn up.

Finally a stock Buchon cockpit from the Battle of Britain film.
The info boards at East Kirkby say that it was built as a film prop at Pinewood.
Here is that nose under construction at Pinewood.

[QUOTE=Dave Homewood]Was the cockpit interior of the CASA-built versions of the Heinkel 111 the same as the original German aircraft in layout, etc?
Dave, these photos were taken in Spain prior to filming of the BoB, I haven’t as yet directly compared them to a HE 111 cockpit.

Great shots Rob,
Looks like there was a good turnout at EK despite the cold.

[QUOTE=BlueNoser352]Steve:
Much thanks for note & info on the HE-111 at Duxford, hope the fine folks at OMFC can restore this Spanish built HE-111 to flying status.
Sorry to disappoint you BlueNoser, but the Casa 2111, is now part of the Imperial war Museum Collection.
Unfortunatelty the main spars in the wings are very corroded, which was probably why OFMC transfered the aircraft to the IWM.

[QUOTE=robbelc]2) I can’t think of any airframe currently in the uk that ows it’s existance to him( anybody correct me?). What long term impact do you think he had on thew uk preservation scene?
What about the IWM Lancaster KB889 Ex G-LANC, without Doug importing the aircraft from Canada, the Imperial War Museum would have to make do with the Lambeth nose section.

[QUOTE Viv Bellamy] “Dear boy, you’ve bought a young lady for me to impress!”
Very Noel Coward!
I wish I’d had the chance to meet Viv, sadly there seems to be very few of these larger than life characters left. I would love to been on the Battle of Britain film crew, with Viv, Hawke, Mahaddie and co, I bet it was a riot in the bar most nights.

Melv, I found this whilst looking for old photos tonight, thought you might like it.
Your article in A—plane reminded me of Rob Rudhall. Rob also flew with John Fairey in the Piston Provost, John knowing that Rob wasn’t a keen flier had managed to lure him into the cockpit for some engine runs, and high speed taxying tests, which of course led to a full blown flight. I know Rob cherished the memories of his flight with John Fairey, I’m sure you will to.
Good luck with the first flight, is it still on for tomorrow.

A fourth B17 was used in the war lover, 44-83811 a former IDF aircraft, the fuselage was used by Columbia pictures for internal shots, the aircraft ended its days at Croydon airport before eventually being scrapped.
