Bump, too good to drop off page 1 just yet.
Thanks Mark 12,

I’m not sure if they can correct the pitch as i think the blades are made from fibreglass, with I guess a fabricated prop hub of some description.

[QUOTE=Archer]Septic, the only time a radial isn’t leaking oil is when it’s out of oil! 😮 When you need to shut an engine down because of an oil leak, it is because it is leaking significantly more than the other three.
I thought Cyclones were radials not rotarys!

I would be interested to know the provenance of the ‘Orange Red’ spinner on 161 in the two colour Celtic Boss ‘Grey Green’ scheme.
It was not specified as such on the Vickers drawings referred to in this or the associate thread. All the several b/w period photos I have of 161 in ‘Grey Green’ suggest that the spinner was ‘Grey Green’ also by tonal comparison in varying light. Not infallible, as Voy Tech will attest.
On the subsequent IAC scheme in silver, deep anti-dazzle ‘Night Black’ top cowling and tank cover and partial side cowlings, this time with three colour Celtic Boss, it very clearly has a coloured spinner that may well have been Red.

What year did they change to a three colour boss?
I’ve seen photos that date from the mid 60’s of TE308 with a red/orange spinner and three colour boss, could there have been a transition period, or was it that Historic Flying thought the scheme just looked better with a coloured spinner.

And, as everybody inevitably asks, NO, we haven’t had any engine failures. Precautionary shutdowns for a prop problem and an oil leak are the only hassles. And, NO, they aren’t the same series engines with which the airlines had all the drama!
Thanks for the thought and hope you enjoyed the show.
G’day
Thanks for the update Feather #3, its good to know ‘EAG’ is still in fine fettle and in the capable hands of HARS.
Regarding the Oil leaks, it must be a common problem with the Wright Cyclones, as I vividly recall the Swiss Connie leaking oil at Duxford last year.
All the best to yourself and the HARS crew for the forthcoming Temora and Avalon displays.

There’s an idea AJ make all the staff and visitors wear period dress, Goodwood style but with aircraft.
Last few to finish

[QUOTE=benyboy]Is it just me or do you seem to have court a few gohsts on one of your Lanc pics 😮 😮 🙂
I’m glad you like them benboy, I dare say there are few spirits that haunt the old hangars of a night, rather like the ghosts at East Kirkby and Cosford.
The ghosting that appears in some of my photos was down to very slow shutter speeds that were used in an attempt to lure some light into the photos.

Thanks Peter,
Last few photos for tonight.

Heres a few to start with.

Dave,
Partially well lit, the Oxford was now in the night ops area, the light bulb having been loaned to the Fairey Battle.
