Ah you mean colleague (or if American co-worker)
As the topic slips slowly off into the distance…….sorry Gary 🙂
Motf, Nothing new there. 🙂

Andrewman, it’s the Air Museum at Hendon that needs some help in the catering dept, not the College.

Happy Birthday Anna.
I Hope you had a great day. 🙂

Thanks Robbo,
The difference in image quality is surprisingly noticeable, Its amazing the difference a few mm can make. 😀

I agree with Damien on this point. What lens do you chaps suggest for static aviation/general purpose photography?
I’m currently using a Sigma 20-40 but this isn’t quite wide enough as this “equates” to 32-64. I’m thinking about the Canon 17-40L – is this a good choice? Any thoughts or advice?
TIA

Sigma now have a 12-24 or a 15-30 in their EX range, I have found that my 18-35 is often not wide enough.

Great shots, Thanks for posting.
Try photoshop, it can make a big difference.

[QUOTE=*Zwitter*]I’m back in the SLR world having gone from a canon compact to a 20D, my question is what do the top bods on here use in terms of zoom lenses (I have a 300mm zoom).
*Zwitter*, if you budget won’t quite stretch to a 100-400IS USM, take a look at the Sigma EX 50-500, a good lens at just over £600.

Thanks TJ,
That’s the first photo I’ve seen of TW117 outside at Gardermoen.

[QUOTE=Firebird]Wow…Vautour, when was that taken…. 😮
Firebird,
After a quick google search i discovered that the Vautour I photographed at LFA was in fact the last of its type to fly, F-AZHP (sn.348).
It continued to fly as a Cyrano test aircraft ? based at Melun-Villaroche until 1996.

Where was the first one taken, Septic? Obviously not DX – looks more operational, particularly with what looks like a Vulcan JUST visible in the background and a BUFF as well. Fairford?

What about the Whittington Bros. N49WB?

Is it currently airworthy, I seem to remember it was being rebuilt following an accident at Reno.

Wow…Vautour, when was that taken…. 😮
That Ruskin Air Services scheme on the Dak brings back some memories… 🙂
The Vautour was at la ferte Alais in the late 80’s i think. I will check on this.
Does anyone know who owned/operated it or whether its still airworthy.
A vautour was one of the few jets to have landed at Kenley, when it mistook the airfield for Biggin hill.

Try Frank (Francis) Mason’s ‘The Hawker Hurricane’ recently re-released by Crecy, its a little long in the tooth now, but still a good starting point.

A final selection of scans from old colour prints.
All the best

Nice photos. Really good to see the 2 of the Mosquito again. Where was the pic of the Tigercat in racing colours taken?
As Yak 11 Fan rightly stated the Tigercat was at Duxford, the photo dates from around December 1988. The aircraft had been operated as a fire bomber for Sis-Q Flying Service up until 1985.
