Lovely photos Gary. That brisfit looks bloody ugly.
I quite agree Robbo, I don’t think the Hispano Suiza engine did much to enhance the Brisfits performance either.
This aircraft was restored by Skysport and Guy Black in the 80’s and was eventually exchanged for Spitfire IX MK912.

Thanks Mark 12, thats blown that theory out of the water, I was hoping it had been entered for the Kings cup or similar.

Did they have any engines on display?
Loads of engines, I unfortunately ran out of time to go over to where they were kept, hopefully will go back before too long.

If you thought the previous photos gave you the impression that space was tight look at this poor Stampe.
Regarding camera bags etc. They have a secure locker area behind the main reception, I just took mine back to the car, and put all my gear in my jacket pockets.
Also don’t forget that the Aircraft are part of the Musee Royal de l’Armee, there is also a large number of AFV’s, uniforms and all forms of militaria.

Another batch, mainly WW1 types.

Very nice, but do they still try and stop you taking photos there without prior written permission?
They didn’t seem to mind us taking photos, but they would not allow us to carry our camera bags or use a tripod, they were also very quick to get everyone out at 4.45, 15 mins before the place officially closes.

Thanks Stewart,
I’m still going through the images, I will be back later with another batch.

Great Shots Gareth, I must make the trip next year. (I’m sure I said that last year after seeing your photos!)
What shutter speed was the PR XIX taken at, steady hands or tripod?

Thanks Mark 12,
I’ll try to get Tim Savage of Warbird Digest to add this into a future issue as feedback for the article, where did you find the information.
The date seems quite early given that the Proctukas were still under construction unless G-AIED was canabalised for parts.

A superb pilot and a true enthusiast. I will always cherish the brief chats I had with Mark when researching the history of G-BOML.

Sounds like you had a great trip Hairyplane, did you manage to keep the ‘Hairyplane P51 fund’ together despite all the casinos and slot machines.
The worst thing for me about my Reno trip last year was arriving back at Gatwick. 🙁
PS. I don’t suppose you managed to take any photos of the MB5!

Have a Great trip Andy, dont forget to sample the seriously unhealthy funnel cakes and corn dogs.

Great Shots APG,
If you don’t mind me asking what lens do you use, as I was struggling a bit with the light during the more overcast parts of the afternoon.

This is the last few from a superb Biggin Show. Thanks everyone for all the kind comments. 🙂
