Thanks propstrike.
The trouble with most of the aircraft magazines, is that they try to squeeze airshow reports into a couple of pages, hence the postage stamp size photos, which makes a mockery out of all the high res images that they recieve after each display.

Thanks guys, I’m glad you liked them.
Just for Merlin 70, one last shot of the awesome Tigercat/Bearcat duo.

LA226 also spent a few years on the gate of Biggin Hill, early 80’s I think.

Third Batch. Sorry dial up users!

Superb Darren,
Didnt the cadets need someone to supervise them!

Great shots, Thanks for posting Merlin 70.
My Nikon d100 sometimes has to be turned off after displaying an error message.
With the Nikkon its normally down to over exposure resulting from too low a shutter speed!
I had terrible trouble leaving DX yesterday, finally left the airfield at 7.35 pm, I wish they would not put the Arrows at the end of the show.
I’ll post my shots tomorrow as my PC graphics card has literally had melt down.

How about this Hawker Typhoon at Caen in France.
Does anyone know who and how it was constructed.
Photo found via the web.

Thanks for finding the link Peter.
I cant believe the waste of time and effort surrounding the gloss paint episode. If the paint manufacturers and other museums had encountered problems in the past, why did the IWM know better.
As a large number of aircraft are displayed externally around the UK, will the durability of new solvent free paints become another problem that preservation groups will have to contend with. Health and Safety implications on the application of paints, has no doubt already hindered many conservation programmes.

[QUOTE=Yak 11 Fan]Good grief the poor old thing looks worse than ever!!! I really hope it doesn’t go the same way as the Convair and the Varsity.
Duxford also scrapped the Comet 2 XK695 just prior to the Convair and Varsity.
Does part of the problem stem from a lack of volunteers and health and safety issues. When I first started going to Duxford in the early 80’s there were many DAS crews looking after the static exhibits, cleaning, repainting and polishing there way through sundays. Now when you go there seems to be very few people actually working on the aircraft. Maybe IWM needs to recruit some fresh blood.

Last two from shoreham, one for Sally B fans and a photo taken from a much larger image.

[QUOTE=Bradburger]
Anyone know who was flying the OMFC Spit & P51?
Thanks Bradburger,
Lee Proudfoot was in the Spitfire and Alister Kay in the P51.
The fighters will now stay at Goodwood for next weeks revival show.

Heres a couple more of ‘Sally B from Above’. Glad you liked them.
These shots were taken at extreme range when the aircraft was coming across the downs. The second shot needed quite a bit of adjustment to take out speaker poles and alike.

Thanks for all the kind comments. Shoreham is a great venue with a superb backdrop, I just wish they could handle the airfield traffic a bit better, it always seems like a ‘free for all’ trying to get out.
Special mention should be given to the Yakovlevs who were superb in such difficult conditions.
