Why not? There are a dozen or so B-17s flying, so why not another Lanc?

Would be great to get her air worthy but in an age where no one cares about history i cant see how it is going to be a feasable project. Look at the poor old Vulcan struggling year in year out. The EU not being warbird friendly and no aircraft operator is going to make a living on the back of airshows.

I don’t think JJ will suffer as much. The Panton’s still have the museum, and an airworthy Lancaster might just help them bring in more revenue!

Did the flyable Spitfire (MJ627) generate more visits in the time it was based there? I would bet that it did…

I didn’t realise the Me 262 was designed as a tail dragger until I saw a documentery on the history channel the other month , I thought it was always a tri-cycle , but there was some top quality footage from the very first test flights in front of luftwaffe brass .

It also had a prop for its first flight.

I think there were a few two-seat A6Ms.

In fact, Paul Allen’s got one. (Not sure if it was built as such, or converted, though).

Among the Paper aircraft, I recall someone about 15 years ago in “Pilot” magazine doing a feature on the evolution of the perfect aircraft according to the rules of Burt Rutan. It went through about 15 to 20 iterations eventually finishing up resembling a Focke-Wulf 189 with asymmetric wings, and an offset pod for payload

It looked hideous but there were good reasons for the changes made for each iteration
