Well said James
However to the point of speculation over the possible future disposition of the Mustang. I feel that coment and speculation do have a place here as a public institution the RAAFM is open to public scrutiny. This forum is part of a voice in letting the administrators know the views of the informed community and that the options open to them ie Grounding, Flying or sale are examined in that wider community.
Nothing is wrong or ill considered in letting the public have a voice as it is after all ultimately “our” Mustang – The Museum administrators are the custodians of it. Pure and simple.
So when previously one of the 3 Mustangs held by the Museum was sold/traded (quite rightly in my opinion) why wouldn’t there be conjecture about the future of the two remaining aircraft.
I am not opposed to one of the two being sold and I think it is healthy to discuss that possability before a “closed door ” deal is done without all opinions being heard.

All true in the UK BUT the advent of the internet and the almost impossible task of prosecuting breaches on the net has made a mockery there – I have tried to charge 156 people with breaches of copyright over the past 5 years and not one case has made it to court. This is an issue that will never in my opinion be resolved. The net does not lend itself to this type of legislation.

No Sir
It wasn’t me – don’t ban me I was just standing there – it was them – they threw the stones honest!!!!
I am sure the manifesto when complete will be a literary triumph as expected of a movie in which Mr Cruise will once again emphatically reinforce the huge role the US played in the BoB (Were they in the war then I forget). I expect his Spit will naturaly be cannon armed and have 20,000 rounds per gun to enable him to take out whole Squadrons of Bosch with a single burst.
He will then retire to a saucy night at the local B&B to give young Gwynth a night to remember and do it all again the next day, And they say I am a cynic!!! Why when You have such epistles to the talent of US filmakers like Pearl Jam no sorry Harbour and Totty Gun ( Mr Cruise at his finest if you recall)

Hate to disagree, sort of but you are both right – but it depends on the Jurisdiction you are in USA, UK, NZ or Australia – all slightly different – just makes it worse to enforce.

Being an OW “groupie” I completely agree with James here – There is nowhere anywhere in the world like OW.

My old man , Norm , spent 3 years as a commando on Timor being shot at by Japanese Zeros – he spent the last years of his life helping me locate crashed ones there so one could be gotten out for posterity. Life is funny and I suppose some people harbor grudges – I know my dad still didn’t like the Japanese but he didn’t take it to extreams. It is after all just an aircraft, I think we take it a little too far when we associate people and re enactments with the pure demonstration that is portrayed in the flight of the aircraft. I did and do have an issue with Fifi re enacting Hiroshma by setting off a mushroom cloud simulation but I have no issue with her doing a flypast I wouldn’t do it but who am I to say they shouldn’t – I guess it is just personal taste.

This is one that we have been over lots and if you do a search here and at WIX you will find a lot on it. Essentially you are correct but in practice the advent of the internet has blown most of this out of the water. Sure you can still “bounce” someone who steals your Intellectual property but who do you prosecute, where do you start and do you have the money to do it.
Unless you are Bill Gates or you understand all the intricacies of each jurisdiction you are taking the action in you are effectively stuffed.
I do this for a living and in the real world if you are not abandoning your claims to you image or text don’t post it – simple as that I’m afraid

Hi
I guess I don’t see a lot of point to re enactors – Piolts dressing as per the period I do understand but re enactors tend to get in the way of shots etc and I honestly don’t think they add much – I don’t think the average Joe public comes to see them either – Just my opinion – and if by dispensing with them The few remaining Veterans are more comfortable then there is no issue – ditch them

Hi Eddie
Well there are a lot of permutations to that legislation and stuff moves in and out all the time quite legally.
Given that the Mustang is one of 10-15 survivors here of genuine CAC built mustangs I think it would stand a good chance of being granted an export permit – I can think of quite a few very rare aircraft that made it out of the country. Like the only surviving complete aircraft that was involved on an attack on Australia(the Oscar now in the USA)
