Hi James
Nice to have you back on air
“More when I’ve got an aussie ISP who can provide a service that’s not a joke.” – No such thing thanks to the Guvmnts Broadband policy – which thankfully I didn’t write!

Hi Jonathon
Thanks for the positive idea – I think it’s a good thought but another way would be to show a visual schematic of Dux showing the location of all the buildings and external aircraft displays and jus list which aircraft are where by placing named aircraft outlines in each building much like a brochure etc.
Just a thought –
Thanks for keeping up the input here I know a lot of people have a pop at Dux (me included) but it is the best Museum I visit world wide and I guess we all have an opinion on how it could be better – such as more sympathetic and consistant architecture and a bit more tidying up wouldn’t hurt – but these are not as important as the huge strides being made for the future.

Hi
Could I respectfully sugest that the guys in NZ get in touch with Ralph Cussack about the Blenhiem as he has had a lot of experiance with the Beaufort and would be a great resource in terms of engineering advice etc

Hi all some points in response
1) the China B25 is SUPPOSED to be a Dolittle raider ship
2)”Manonthefence John
Do you have any way of contacting JDK……..hes missing! “
I will phone him tomorrow and get to the bottom of his dissaperance – He did move so perhaps he is without computa at present ?
3) Hi Robbo – saw Kermit Weeks , Ray Hanna and Jerry Yegan in China all biding on the Stirling but I think Melve beat them to the punch for his next project.
4) Tony I was doing a 3 week pub crawl of Asia much like a CAMRA that didn’t end (Now that was a great night mate)

It’s selling very well in Shanghai at present and the copy is excellent – they must have knocked it off from the studio! – same with sky Captain and the Aviator.

Hi Andrew-O
I believe it is still there and in the same state it was left – there have been some attempts to get at whats left over the years- could be wrong but thats what has been on the net over the past few years and in some of the mags

Hi all
Will there be “Verve Clique” – My favourite mispelt frog fizzy drink and surely a sponsor of all of us cliqueites here – Melve why didn’t you think of that – You could have capatilised on the french hatred of the brits by getting the fizzy drink mob to sponsor the Clobbermiester and think of all that product we could have consumed at Potsdam slagging everybody else off instead of coffee!!!
Up her for thinking Melve!!!
Dissapointed

Hi TJ – you could be correct – I’m a long way from my copy of the book but at least nobody died –

Hi TJ
Yes there was and I think in Classic wings as well but I am 5,000 miles from my files so I can’t look it up – Dave McDonals will know though.

Hi all
Yes there is a project underway to bring the Lincoln from the UK back downunder and put it back together again. A nose for this machine will present some problems and efforts are under way to source one. I am led to believe that the transfer to Australia is not yet finalised and we would all do well not to upset the applecart yet till the deal is done.
Several other remains exist including appartntly one buried at Point Cook that was on the fire dump. The Camden museum nose was from a Lincoln destroyed on the fire dump at Mascot Kingsforsd Smith airport in the 1960’s and I am not sure the museum would be OK with donating it – no doubt discussions will take place if/when the Lincoln arrives in Aus. There are fairly bashed about remains on Mt Superbus in Queensland where a Linc crashed but good for small parts only I would have thought.
My ideal would be to see this restored as a short nosed Mk30 and a long nose restored and sat alongside it………….

Very sad story – yes it did catch on fire whilst at the end of preperations to fly it out – sad accident although I believe nobody was hurt which was a blessing – I won’t go into what happened which was pretty silly in retrospect but if you read the book you will get the story. Damage was largely to the fuselage which is pretty well wiped out but a hell of a lot remains which could be incorporated into other rebuilds I would have thought.

Hi Melve
Warm up a seat at Potsdam or wherever it is you sit – serious slagging off needs to be done when I go to Leg Ends – I have taken notes and am up to 3 exercise books of acidic comments that need to be made. Very happy the Rewind Clobbermiester flies – proud little lad you must be.
Now to Yak 11s – yes this was a HUGE effort getting 30 plus Yaks and sundry other bits out of there and yes it was our French bretheran who did it – in terms of scale it was easily as large as the Iraq sea/Fury effort I think most of them are dispersed now all over the world – we even have one in Australia. I suggest that Dave McDonald should hop in here as he has just penned a fantastic series in Classic Wings on the Yaks and must be some sort of a subject guru by now. I remember seeing photos of the Yaks in Egypt parked in a huge yard and it was wall to wall – what a site.
