    Hi Lancman

Of course you have a right to speak up – I am trying to say there should not be a fuss about this when there are much more important issues to look at here – thats all a bit of proportion wouldn’t hurt would it ?

    Hi David

Yep everyone has their right to have a say – I often come 12,000 mile to look at all these aircraft and even I have an opinion – everywhere I go in the UK I look at airframes exposed to dreadful conditions – corrosion traking it’s toll, mould , vandalism etc It’s all very sad and I know everyone tries their best but I tell you the one thing that needs to happen is getting all the best airframes under cover soon or it will all soon be achademic and nobody wants to visit the site of a former museum………

I agree violently with 90% of your post you obviously care about all of this as much as I do.

    Well said

    Kindest regards

Honestly from 12,000 miles away this looks so bizare – what is all the fuss about – an aircraft that could have left a major collection and become saucepans like the other one recently has now got a permanent home and the Lanc will still fly so whats the grief – I think everyone needs a good stiff brandy and a good lie down – worry about something significant like how do all the aircraft at newark get under cover or at all those other great museums in the UK – your heritage is slowly corroding into the ground and you all worry about this tripe – Shame I say!

    Kindest regards

We get these stories all the time in Aus and I am as sceptical as they come – one great one about buried Beaufighters in a mine shaft near Charters Towers in Queensland -. So last time this was posted I launched off in a tirade about how this wasted everyones time and then a well respected Spitfire authority posts a pic of Spits being dug up in the Northern Territory- Bugger! So I never say never but!!!

If anyone wants to dig up something in Aus that IS there then I do have something for you.

Williamtown RAAF Base – end of the old WW11 north south runway – a trench was dug postwar and 40 plus fighters and spares were buried there – I have photos of the trench, dump and seen the remains of dunp myself as well as interviewed the dozer drive. Trouble is the water table has risen and I suspect the stuff is by now mush. But who knows – anybody who wants to go after it is welcome to my info – I don’t live there anymore and I don’t have the time.

Lismore NSW – There is a fairey Battle buried in the council Depot – gifted to the town after the war it was going to be displayed on a pole but they changed their mind and buried it in the depot. The propellor survived and is on the wall at Casino airport. Again I spoke to the guy who buried it many years ago and because it is well drained there it should be OK – the council was at one stage prepared to let me dig it up. This story is easily verified in Lismore – go to it and have fun!!

Hi Cees – How are you – we haven’t chatted for a while – what are you up to at present?

The surviving parts ar large chunks of fuselage and the empenage I believe in Victoria somewhere – but the plans are the key and with todays technology they would facilitate a pretty good replica.

    Hi

I had heard of a project to extend the London underground an put in a stop in the tunnel for aircraft nerds like us to explore it. I believe all the aircraft are being restored and painted in Red Bull colors for some reason………

Hi and then there was the drive up to Wangaratta and one of the Worlds largest restoration shops – P40s . P39s, Kingfishers etc – Chris had joined our happy band by then and we had a great time hosted by Murray, Anna and Fourumite Mick Grinter as well as Gus who assisted in the piloting duties – just one of the most fantastic days (two actually)
