Hi James
I think it was a great bit of Aussie engineering – just a shame it was delayed and too late although I suspect as always the Polies had rather too much influence – it could have served for a while and kept our indiginous industry alive a little better – as for dimensions and likeness to the Mustang – larger and totally different in engineering and design – I think the P51 had rather less influence than others seem to attribute.

Hi Dave
I believe the engines and blades would have found their way onto Wirraways, Boomerangs and perhaps Beauforts.

Hi Dave – they say on the posts that it is the same one that was repaired – A great effort in a short time – looks fantastic.

Hi Oscar
Yes a replica would be nice indeed and with the MB thingy in the States having been done I guess it could happen. Some parts remain and I believe some or all of the plans – now who do I know with a Griffon???? When do we start !
Kindest regards

Hi Stormbird
I just happen to have the official data sheets from CAC for all theirr aircraft – very nice indeed – would you like copies ?
PS we missed you in Melb last week but other options soon to meet up

Hi John
Yes a lot of aircraft were and still are used as dive bombers but the major intent of the design of these aircraft was not as a true dive bomber – merely an attack aircraft capable of dive bombing – if you see the distinction?
Kindest regards
John P
Hi
I think another aspect of the postwar use is that Divebombers as a concept largely peaked in WW11 and died out as a breed almost imediately in major airforces post war- some lived on in third world air forces but the bomber / fighter combination was expected to cover the whole gambit and dive bombers were an unecessary indulgence when budgets were shrinking .
Just my opinion

Very nice too – very original.

Hi Steve
Now Now the Wirraway was stuffed up by pommies dictating how it should be laid out so telling a pommie how a cockpit should be laid out is a little rich so I imagine the “anglisising” of the Rearwin could wind up just as bad – unless Melvyn has applied his logic to it in which case I’m sure it will be fine.
Hope all is well in China

Hi Dave
I don’t think it will ever fly again too much hassel after the crash and it is their only one.

Hi Dave
I believe it was rebuilt and is in airworthy condition following the crash but this was just reported – I haven’t aactually seen it since the crash..
Here are some photos of it way back
Hi
Yes James but at least we got most of the charges dropped and the medical tests are clear – he just has to keep using the ointment for two weeks – He may still be able to re enter the country. I rather liked his story that he didn’t know the P40 guns were active and loaded – shooting down the Flying doctor because it looked suspicious was a little over the top even for him.
