and a few more…………..
Talk of Pacific flights – our Own Oscar Duck brought a B25 out accross the pond from the US quite a few years back and then there was a Ventura and a Loadstar and the Canberra from the UK and the Aussie Canberra to the US (where it it now) so it can be done just needs thorough planning and guts ……

Hi all
I think there should be a board formed to approve Aviation Movies and I should be on it.
In support of my application I propose that there must be at least two minutes of Proper non CGI footage of aircraft (Proper real aircraft no paper mache replica rubbish) for every minute of shelias pretending to do horizontal folk dancing with the pilots.
No woosy crying crap as the pilot leaves for the front just lots of marshall band music as the brave lads Tacca Tacca with each other over the Jungle/Wheatfields/Russian step etc.
I would propose that the Government subvert funding from bleeding heart bulldust stuff like free milk etc to provide subsidies to filmakers to fund restoration of genuine warbirds to appear in the movies and train the necessary pilots etc.
The academy awards be compelled to have a “Best aviation film category” and a best warbird and pilot in a staring role etc as the major award of the night.
John Travolta should also be on the board along with DeCapria (he can make the tea) – Tom Cruise should have to sell the P51 as he’s a big headed woose.
There is lots more I could say in support of me but modesty prevents and you get the picture(Pun intended)

Hi Oscar
No the sword isn’t a flyer and I think it needs some TLC pretty soon or it will deterioate too badly to do much with. It shouldn’t be outside!!

Ps
Do you have a copy of the film Always – Very nice A26 stuff in it
I can get you a copy.
Just a few more from the RNZAFM
Next we got on a series of planes and made our way to the unusually damp city of Christchurch and the RNZAF Museum at Wigram – A fantastic Museum and one that shows just how much can be done with a little.
From here Steve finished his New Zealand tour and travelled to Melbourne Australia whilst I went to Wanaka for the day before joining him the next day in Melbourne. I will start a seperate post tomorrow with the Australian leg.
Hi
On the same airfield as the Smith collection near Auckland is the NZ CAF wing which operates a T6 and Beech 18 amongst others
Here are a few pics
Hi
Now we went on to Glyn Powell’s magnificent Mosquito rebuild facility near Auckland – we were all very impressed and a little daunted by what it takes to produce an airworthy Mossie. The Canadian machine has not yet left for it’s new home but work has already commenced on the next machine and the moulds are already being made ready,
Then on to the Smiths collection at a small rural strip near Auckland – what a little treat- a local collector had pulled his whole collection of aircraft out for a visit by the local historic society and he though we were them !!!
Dave even talked his way into a ride in a proctor !!
Hi Dave
Thanks for the comments
You are too kind though – the Sky Tower at night was because you got me pissed! as usual
