    Hi robbo

Need to stay a little low for a while yet, it has been a little difficult as you can imagine the negoiations were a bit tough and translators don’t help but I think the main hassels are over now. Anyway I will PM you off line and thanks for the help at your end I really appreciated it.

    Hi Robbo

My Stirling came through Burma by pack mule component at a time and was floated down river alll the way to Auckland via Sevastopol whereupon Dave and I secretly rebuilt it in his back shed over the past seven years. He naturally denies all of this to maintain his air of nonchalance.

Timex funded us to do this and we are forming the new Timex Bomber Team because of the disappointment that surrounded the disbandment of the Bretling Team.

You will of course have noted the recent rumors concerning the CWH Lanc – well I can confirm that it will be arriving in the UK soon as the second member of our team – sponsored by Durex – Stay safe.

Meanwhile Cees has been furiously taking care of the RAFM Halifax for us over the past few months. It was swapped for a paper mache model when they weren’t looking, as they frequently aren’t.

I shall be team leader and Ralph Cusack is loaning me his shiny new Beaufort for the purpose. I shall arrive soon to commence planning for leg Ends.

I can’t reveal too much about the display except to say a couple of surprises can be announced. The Vulcan is now an associate member and will begin the display with a 2-hour aerobatic display accompanied by the Dead Sparrows and will end by dropping a 5-ton flour bomb on Ms Greers house to the rapturous applause of the crowd. I will then lead in the formation of the Beau, Lanc, Stirling and Halifax and conduct the worlds first low level full aerobatic Heavy Bomber Display – The BBMF Lanc has agreed as a one off to take part with their Lanc and will fly with us as we wow the crowd over Duxford in tight formation….over the Isle if Skye!!

So there my dirty secret is out thanks to Robbo – I feel much better now I have come clean ………………

Yours in the Pub (Don’t you just love wireless laptops)

    Hi all

I noticed in one shot that one of the Fords sedans had the Dunlop Tyre on the left front but on the next it was a Firestone – Come on guys get a life – most of it is CGI anyway so you are lucky Snow white doesn’t make the odd frame appearance like she does in the Matrix.

Whilst on the subject of Movie stars what is Tom Cruise doing with Hairyplanes these days or was it just a fad when be bought the p51 etc.

Also Mel Gibson is a real Buff – I met him once before he became famous He was showing his cattle Very good Knowledge – I make no coment about his acting but he is very rich from it.

    Kindest regards
    John P

    Hi Robbo

Is the Stirling the one from Yum Cha – that story keeps comming back every half hour – or was that lunch I forget.

Stop playing with the Goldfish – someone will bite and then we will spend days winding it up and then winding it down again. Go and play with your stamp collection or build a model hairyplane or something – you are obviously bored and dangerous….. or better still do some planning for a trip to Australia home of the Lincoln! ( and at least it is real even if in 20 million bits) I would love to see you up here

    Hi

I’m no expert in this case but I think you will find that the Hercs main value is as a spares reclaimation product to Marshalls – with so many in service there is a very good market for good quality spares and a lot of good aircraft are reduced to components as they are stripped of their useful parts. Often the aircraft is worth much more in parts than as a whole – unfortunately this means there isn’t much left to preserve as the cost of replacing the good bits with time expired / worn out stuff is prohibitive and the dead carcase is just scrapped. Towards the end of a types active career this is less of a problem as there tend to be more expired aircraft than demand for parts so aircraft then become available for preservation as their latent value has decreased.

    Regards
    John p
