No ours came as the photo shows – we have just got a base/hexagon on long-term loan – beware the base is incredibly heavy – sorry no clues how to disconnect.
At the moment we are focusing on our fuselage – as you can see it needs alot of work!!
We are currently restoring our instrument panel to its original WW2 USAAF format (ours came with a modified panel with some later instruments that may be suitable for a D4)- we may have some surplus instruments for sale – let me know what you need – ebay seems a good source of instruments also.
Ours is wood covered (ply) but have been told it may have orignally been fabric covered.
Terry,
Any chance I could have a copy too – email jasonwebb@bottishamairfieldmuseum.org.uk
Binbrook,
Stephen’s photos at Thorpes Abbott example looks to be D4 – is yours the one that was advertised on ebay recently??
Here’s our link prior to its restoration – which is ongoing.
I would get in touch with the Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation museum. We have an ANT-18 and they have been incredibly helpful with advice, expertise and parts.
They currently run an ANT-18 and a D4 from memory which are live and give rides to kids of all ages!
More helpful people you couldn’t wish to meet.
Good luck
Jason

Tony,
Thanks for your kind words … progress is slow & a massive amount to do internally – trying to get a trolley made to make it easier to transport which in turn will make it easier to work on.
Wish we had you & Gary closer!!!!
Cheers J
Thanks
Dave,
Any leads very much appreciated!!!!;)
Also any leads on its provenance???
Cheers
J
Bottisham Link Trainer
After a substantial loan of parts our ANT-18 Link trainer is making progress. The loan has included a base, throttle quadrant, control arms and many of the desk items.
Picture shows the trial fit of our new cockpit panel which should bring back closer to its original USAAF configuration – the panel that came with it was fitted with 50’s & 60′ RAF instruments.
Still on the look out for a cockpit hood, wings and tailplane. Also more american instruments & rudder pedals.
Picture shows part of our dedicated team my deputy chairman Mark (left) & Rob (Wyvernfan).
Bottisham P-51 project
Progress slow but sure – new canopy glass acquired – bulkhead being sand blasted prior to permanent fitting – seat fully restored – cockpit panel complete.
Now focusing on fitting wooden floor and trying to find some suitable H section for upper longerons.
N9 gunsight, SCR 522 radio & throttle quadrant still on wants list.
Rob,
Fingers crossed for you – bit worried about those ‘juices’ though.:dev2:
Interesting but sad photos – would love to save the Cessna Bobcat.
Thanks for posting.
Great thread, great museum – keep up the excellent work!
Cheers
J
Perhaps my posting was a bit harsh – entirely possible that it did come from Candyman/Moose. It maybe something fitted post-war??
Is this bulldogs too? Can’t see that its from a P-51????
