Bottisham Airfield Museum
Bottisham Airfield Museum will next be open on Sunday 3rd June between 12noon and 4pm.
We are approx. 3 miles from Cambridge and a friendly welcome awaits.
We can possibly open up at other times by special arrangement – please contact jasonwebb@bottishamairfieldmuseum.org.uk

More likely to be 102-14037 which is part of the Skin Assembly on the Wing (station75.00 to 190.50 lower front).
Can’t see a 104-14037 in the mustang parts catologue (only had a quick scan).
TonyT,
Don’t worry all our prize exhibits are in the museum ready for Sunday’s re-opening.
We have taken the opportunity to part with a few items not relevant to Bottisham such as the P-38 propellor (P-38’s never served at Bottisham). We will be using the money to improve the attire of some of our mannequins and we also have fairly hefty expenditure coming on the P-51.
Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible this Sunday 29th April between 11.30am and 4pm.
Cheers
Jason

Might be worth taking a look at this:-

Fibreglass replica Lakester
14′ salt flat bellytanker. All hand laid fiberglass. Three piece kit; top, bottom and headrest.
Might be worth contacting Gary Dean (Geedee) who has just built one for his marvellous P-51 cockpit – and done a might fine job of it.
Hats off guys – that is a stunning museum – inspiring to us who are trying to do something along the same lines.
Can’t wait to see it!
Would have loved to have made the opening – keep up the good work.

Thoughts and prayers are with you.
All the best

Delighted to announce we have found a temporary home for the museum in the local Royal British Legion.
They have given us a room 2/3 the size of the old museum which will allow us to display all our exhibits except our P-51 and link trainer. This room also contains an original mural from the airfield of the Queen Mary.
This arrangement is for an initial 6 months but will allow us to keep the museum open whilst we search for a long-term home. Furthermore we can have open days that will allow us to raise funds and awareness (dates to follow).
It also means we can start work in earnest on the P-51 and link trainer whilst not having to worry about displaying them.
We will announce opening times soon and dates for open days will follow shortly.
Cheers

Thanks for all your kind words.
I have meeting tommorrow to discuss a temporary home for the museum which will allow us to open.
This is not the end – just the end of the beginning.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.
The museum will continue.
Had a very positive meeting tonight in regards to a temporary home for the museum that would allow us display the majority of our artifacts but not the P-51 Mustang or the Link trainer.
However it means that we can get them both into the workshop and progress the P-51 project and the Link restoration.
Hope to have some more news soon.
If anyone wants to help with the P-51 or the Link trainer please get in touch.
Cheers
Jason

Thanks for your offers of support -keep an eye for more details of forthcoming events.
Bottisham Airfield Museum
We at Bottisham Airfield Museum have been looking for one of these for a while now to compliment our Mustang – if for any reason you decide not to go ahead please let us know as we would like to make a bid.
In terms of value one came on German ebay and went for about 100 euros recently but not sure they fully appreciated what they had. I would say Rob’s valuation isn’t far away.
Good luck.
Congrats Redhill – daughters are a special challenge;)
On the Bottisham front progress is slow:mad: as we are getting bogged down with the fight to save the museum.
We hope to have the P-51 cockpit at cockpitfest but a display of cockpit items may have to suffice – we’ll see.
Cheers
Congratulations on becoming part of the link club.
From what I can tell C3 & ANT-18 are one and the same.
Lets see some photos;)
Good luck with it
Dave,
Have been in touch with the former and for an institute set up to promote the Link their prices were eye wateringly expensive for a small museum:(
Will check out the 2nd link.
Any leads on wings, tail & rudder pedals for Link ANT-18 still very much appreciated.
Cheers
