one gets the feeling this chap will get seen off in style, and so he should.
+1.
It’s on my birthday list for 3 weeks after it’s release.
I do hope Mrs Quinny sees this……
Another vote for First Light.
I took it on holiday some years ago, and it was such a good read, I finished it off on Day 1.
From a phone call I made yesterday to enquire:
The RAF are running the 70th anniversary celebrations, and there will be a flypast over the dam on the 16th may, between 12:30 and 13:00 by the Lanc, 2 Spits and 2 Tornado’s, en route to Chatsworth House, and then RAF Cosford.
The official memorial service will be at Lincoln Cathedral that same evening, but there may be a small service at the dam. (I was nearby at the one given by Al Pinner.)
The dam flypast is a non ticket event, and very limited parking will be allowed via the access road at the side of the dam to the car park, however the road may be closed at very short notice for H&S reasons.
I was given this information by the TIC at the dam, and it would seem that the TIC aren’t really having any involvement this time, reading in between the lines.
Specsavers it is then.
Blyton.
As it’s now called Blyton Park, and is a motorsport centre. (I’ve raced autograss there.)
RIP, a true hero.
Never a statement was more true.
I haven’t got anything to add to this discussion, other than I wish the Pantons the very best of luck!
+1.
Just switched it on as Nigger gets run over.
Nice to see no bloody political correctness.
Dates are usually not released until just before the season starts.
Bookings for 2013 will still be coming in, and then there’s the logisitcs of planning it all.
A post on Facebook reckons the Lanc was at 100 feet!!!! 😮

Agreed.
Didn’t know where to look when the 2 Spits and the Hurricane split from the Lanc, and they each did their bit. It was just constant action.
Having now been to the last 5 occasions, I’m convinced that today the Lanc was the lowest I have ever seen. Even my 2 year old Grandson was in awe.
Sqdn Ldr Ian Smith’s last hoorah was similar to Grp Capt Stuart Atha’s a few years ago, and was a fitting end.

Pass Lissett regularly, and as yet haven’t ‘popped in’ to see what’s left of it. Mind you it is difficult with a 44t HGV.
Nice to see that he ran a small museum at Bletchley as well.
Another hero gone.
Bless you Sir.
