Bummer. 🙁
Ken.
Davski is right, there is a memorial garden at the site, and very nice it is too.
I made a trip over there, about an hour ago,and there isn’t any mention of Sunday, but even though they’ve probably been published a thousand times,I couldn’t resist getting my camera out.
Enjoy……….

How tragic:

It would seem though, that tragedy was everywhere:

How very sad:

Indeed:

Well, time permitting,I may take a trip over tomorrow, and see if I can find out anything.
Ken.
Update:
I’m guessing it will be here:
http://airfieldarchaeology.fotopic.net/c932061.html
But I’m still at a loss for the time.I know one thing,it’s still fairly visible from the M62,as the home for a company called Northern Straw.
Ken.
I too would like to know what time the Snaith one is on,and more to the point, whereabouts in Snaith will it be?
Ken.
Mine arrived today.
Better late than never.
Superb reading.
Ken.
Did my first ever rally at Leconfield,in a Rover 3500 SDI.:D
What a feeling going down the main runway at about 140mph.
Driffield was a place I also visited for motorsport, and can remember it being a vast open space, which was impressionable to a late 20’s year old kid.
Shame it’s come to this.
Ken.
Haven’t got mine yet. 🙁
Let’s see what postman Pat brings tomorrow.
Ken.
Slightly different for me.
I was actually at work, delivering to a chilled food distribution centre, coincidentally,in my home town, when at 11 o’clock,I turned off my truck engine, tuned into the BBC on R2,and listend,in silence,at the proceedings around me,and thought…………
Later on,while coming home,at about 2.45pm,the local old boys, were just about to embark on their yearly march through the town,as the police were out to keep an eye on the traffic and such like.
It’s at times like these, that it really hits home, what our servicemen and women do for our small island.
Lest we forget indeed.
Ken.
I remember Driffield, when rallies were held on it,and also at nearby Leconfield.
In fact,I did my first ever rally at Leconfield,in a Rover 3500 SDi.Very scary!!!!
Ken.
Return e.mail received from Jack Hawkins, thanking me,for thanking him,if you get my drift.
Looks like the BBMF has had a good weekend, and everyone is happy.
Ken.
Fluffy.
I’ve sent an e.mail to Flt Lt Jack Hawkins, thanking him for the participation at Blyton.
A copy is available if you want to see it.
Ken.
Had Sqdn Ldr Clive Rowley over Blyton yesterday,in LF363,at the precise hour of 13.00.
Wonderful flypast, and after he rung me yesterday morning to tell me everything was going ahead,he also told me that it would be his last flight in a Hurricane, and members day was to be his last flight in a Spitfire, before his retirement.
If he happens to read this,or if any of the crew do,could they convey my sincere thanks to him,and also tell him that a lot of the crowd were very impressed, especially after the tipping of the wings.
Ken.
Sadly won’t be there due to my 2 day commitment at Blyton, and I’m truly gutted. 🙁
So I suppose I’ll have to do with the flypast at 13.00 tomorrow,of one of the Hurricanes instead. 🙂
Ken.
Not strictly one of ‘The Few’.
But as they diminish, who are we not to give him honorary ‘fewdom’?
Moggy
I stand corrected,but here here.
